i'd imagine that's largely due to the ipfs system. you're connecting to nodes rather than central servers. Firewalls tend to be fairly broad sweeping with anything that requires a new or unreconised code

Too each their own. I see huge advantages to copyright being more open sorce in a space such as this one. Centralised platforms still have issues such as unrealistic expectations of what fair use is.
