I admit technology is fast becoming an integral part of everyone's life. Staying in Singapore , a country recently known for its global connected-ness , you should be curious how technology have any impacts to our daily lifestyle.

I shall use mine as a case study then. For myself , I rely on technology mainly on transport / communications on a daily basis. I will come into contact with such technologies through my mobile phone of course.

Transport

Travelling office to work daily have been a challenge. I have to battle against transport timings and train crowds. In Singapore , the government have been working very hard to improve on better transport facilities. To ensure I reach office on time ,

I will use mobile apps to check for bus timings.
Train breakdowns in Singapore have been very common in the last few years . To avoid taking the trains when there are such breakdowns , I will need to be better informed and I rely on mobile apps to send me alerts whenever train services are down.
In order to go to work via trains , I will have to find ways to reach the station. Either I walk , take buses and cycle to work. As of recent , we have public bikes available round the island where we can use via apps as well.

Communications (News / Friends / Family)

If not for my friends and family , I would not have start using apps for communications. (I still prefer face to face meetups).

We use a lot of chat apps for work related communications. I will inform my team if I am on sick leave or reach the office late.
We use chat apps for family and friends as well. But we will use a different chat app for work and family/friends.
Google is good for anything and everything we want to find. (I search almost anything in Google)
I rely on Facebook , Instagram to check the latest updates on friends around us.
I use LinkedIn to read industry news that are linked to what I am working on.
For live news , I will reach out to Youtube. There have been a couple of live news channels that you can watch in Youtube!

At least for now , technology has the most direct impact to transportation and communications. There are other areas (i.e Banking / Entertainment) that have which I will probably share in my future post.
