Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great day! Today I want to talk to you about a Netflix series, I want to give you my opinion about the series: The Sandman. Surely some of you know it, or know the comic on which it is based, I loved this series! It is an awesome series that manages to capture the essence of Neil Gaiman's original story. Before watching it, I had heard about these characters, since I had seen some videos where they interacted with DC Comics characters, but this series was my first direct contact with this world. This series, with only the first few minutes, allows us to appreciate that fantastic touch so cool... I was browsing through some pages of the comics, and I think the adaptation is very good.

It feels like a very fresh story, the main premise revolves around Morpheus, who is incredibly played by actor Tom Sturridge, giving life to the King of Dreams himself, and one of the Eternals, ancestral beings that rule the balance of the world. But, unfortunately, this being ends up being captured by a sect, who has him locked up for an entire century... after he manages to escape, he has to embark on a quest to recover his powers, among other objects that were stolen from him, in order to restore the order that has been affected. This first story arc of this series is a faithful adaptation of the “Preludes and Nocturnes” arc from the comics, and lays an incredible foundation for a mind-bending journey through incredible realms full of fantasy, mythology and horror.

Hola a todos, espero estén teniendo un excelente día! Hoy quiero hablarles de una serie de Netflix, les quiero dar mi opinión sobre la serie: The Sandman. Seguramente algunos de ustedes la conocen, o conocerán el comic en el que está basada. ¡Esta serie me encanto! Es una serie impresionante que logra capturar toda la esencia de la historia original de Neil Gaiman. Yo antes de verla, había oído sobre estos personajes, ya que había visto algún que otro video donde estos interactuaban con los personajes de DC Comics, pero esta serie fue mi primer contacto directo con este mundo. Esta serie, con solo los primeros minutos, nos permite apreciar ese toque fantástico tan genial.. Estuve ojeando algunas páginas de los comics, y creo que la adaptación es muy buena.

Se siente como una historia muy fresca, la premisa principal gira en torno a Morfeo, quien es interpretado increíblemente por el actor Tom Sturridge, dando vida al mismísimo Rey de Los Sueños, y uno de los Eternos, seres ancestrales que rigen el equilibrio del mundo. Pero, lastimosamente, este ser termina siendo capturado por una secta, quien lo tiene encerrado por un siglo entero… luego de que él lograra escapar, se tiene que embarcar en una búsqueda para recuperar sus poderes, entre otros objetos que le robaron, y así poder restaurar el orden que se ha visto afectado. Este primer arco argumental de esta serie es una adaptación fiel del arco "Preludios y Nocturnos" de los cómics, y sienta una increíble base para un viaje alucinante a través de reinos increíbles, llenos de fantasía, mitología y horror.

As the series progresses, we will explore different facets of the human condition, interesting themes such as the longing for transcendence and wisdom... even the fear of imminent death. These complex concepts are masterfully intertwined with the plot, making the viewer get involved in the story, and quickly connect with highly charismatic and captivating characters, thus creating a unique narrative thread, which makes you never get bored.

As for the direction, I thought it was perfect! There are really dazzling sequences, with very nice effects to watch, each realm that is presented to us is very well designed... and has a unique aesthetic, which makes it extremely memorable. What I liked the most, were the scenes related to the Kingdom of Dreams, but each scenario presents the hard work that they used in the production of this series, they really manage to transport you to surreal dimensions, but without ever losing the feeling of authenticity that gives off a live action series... this seemed to me a very strong point, since it does not feel like something “fake”, as it usually happens in other productions.

Entre las cosas que más me gustaron de The Sandman, fue la manera en la que nos contaron historias profundas, y también ideas existenciales.. todo esto sin perder en ningún momento el encanto narrativo y visual que desprendió desde el primer episodio. Conforme avanza la serie, exploraremos distintas facetas de la condición humana, temas interesantes como el anhelo de trascendencia y sabiduría.. hasta el miedo a la inminente muerte. Estos conceptos complejos se entrelazan de una manera magistral con la trama, haciendo que el espectador se vea envuelto en la historia, y que conecte rápidamente con personajes sumamente carismáticos y cautivadores, creando así un hilo narrativo único, que hace que no te aburras.

En cuanto a la dirección, me pareció perfecta! Hay secuencias realmente deslumbrantes, con efectos muy agradables de ver, cada reino que se nos presenta está muy bien diseñado.. y cuenta con una estética única, que lo hace sumamente memorable. Lo que más me gusto, fueron las escenas relacionadas con el Reino de Los Sueños, pero cada escenario presenta el trabajo duro que emplearon en la producción de esta serie, realmente logran transportarte a dimensiones surrealistas, pero sin perder nunca la sensación de autenticidad que desprende una serie de acción real.. esto me pareció un punto muy fuerte, ya que no se siente como algo “falso”, como suele ocurrir en otras producciones.

Although, another performance that I loved was that of Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, she gives us a unique and impressive interpretation of the Lord of Hell, really great.

Among other memorable characters, there is Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death (Morpheus' sister, and one of The Eternals), I found her character very interesting, I think she gives us a very different vision of what death really is, she has her curious charm, although to no one's surprise, there were people complaining about the choice of this actress, but I liked her work, I think people forget that all the changes made in the **adaptations** of anything, are previously approved by the creators, so if Neil Gaiman had no problems with the cast, I don't know why it affected so much to others, once the series was released, many agreed that this character was one of the best, in short, the hypotenuse, haha.

Among other characters that make their appearance, is Johanna Constantine, and as expected, many came out to criticize saying that “had become a woman to John”, but this is not so, but it is an ancestor of the exorcist John Constantine. The reason for this appearance is due to the fact that DC Comics has limited rights to the character. This series shines mainly for its incredible story, and the unique way of celestial themes, non-existent realms... this, adding all the philosophical exploration impregnated in each episode, makes us reflect strongly on our fears and our innermost hopes.

**Otra cosa que me gusto, fue el increíble reparto, fue otro plus que ayuda mucho a disfrutar de esta serie**, el protagonista, Tom Sturridge es simplemente perfecto como Morfeo, captura todo ese dominio, fortaleza y desesperación con mucha intensidad, sin duda desarrollo una actuación increíble, que me dejo sumamente satisfecho.

Aunque, otra actuación que me encanto fue la de Gwendoline Christie como Lucifer, nos da una interpretación única e impactante del Señor del Infierno, realmente genial. Entre otros personajes memorables, están Kirby Howell-Baptiste como la Muerte (hermana de Morfeo, y uno de Los Eternos), su personaje me pareció muy interesante, creo que nos da una visión muy distinta de lo que es la muerte en realidad, tiene su curioso encanto, aunque para sorpresa de nadie, hubo gente quejándose por la elección de esta actriz, pero su trabajo a mí me gusto, creo que a la gente se le olvida que todos los cambios realizados en las **adaptaciones** de cualquier cosa, son previamente aprobados por los creadores, así que si el Neil Gaiman no tuvo problemas con el cast, no sé porque le afectó tanto a los demás, una vez estrenada la serie, muchos estuvieron de acuerdo que este personaje fue de los mejores, en fin, la hipotenusa, jaja.

Entre otros personajes que hacen su aparición, se encuentra Johanna Constantine, y como era de esperarse, muchos salieron a criticar diciendo que “habían vuelto mujer a Jhon”, pero esto no es así, sino que se trata de un antepasado del exorcista John Constantine. La razón de esta aparición, se debe a que los derechos del personaje de DC Comics están limitados. Esta serie brilla principalmente por su increíble historia, y la forma tan única de temas celestiales, de reinos inexistentes.. esto, sumando toda la exploración filosófica impregnada en cada episodio, nos hace reflexionar fuertemente sobre nuestros miedos y nuestras esperanzas más íntimas.

Although I wouldn't say it was a major problem, I think that if you pay enough attention to it, you'll surely understand it without problems... another thing is that there are certain episodes that deviated from the main plot, and although they are enjoyable, they still feel out of place... But at no time does the quality of writing and direction go down, as I said, I don't consider them “filler” without sense, watching them, it is very easy to be captivated, and entertained.

**This series is an incredible work of the fantasy genre**, I fully understand the excitement of many fans to see this adaptation, it certainly exceeded my expectations, I'm looking forward to the second season... it's great to be carried away by the story, it moves you and reminds you of the inexhaustible power of human imagination. I give it a rating of... **9/10**. If you are a fan of complex fantasy stories, Gaiman's comics or just out of the ordinary stories, you can't miss this gem! **You will surely end up loving it**. Si tuviera que encontrarle un defecto a esta serie.. es que tal vez resulte un poquito confuso en un principio, o en ciertas partes clave. Aunque no diría que fuera un problema mayor, creo que si le pones la suficiente atención, seguramente la entenderás sin problemas.. otra cosa es que hay ciertos episodios que se desviaron de la trama principal, y aunque sí son disfrutables, no dejan de sentirse como fuera de lugar.. Pero eso sí, en ningún momento la calidad de escritura y dirección bajan, como les comento, no los considero “relleno” sin sentido, viéndolos, es muy fácil quedar cautivado, y entretenido.

**Esta serie es una increíble obra del género fantástico**, entiendo perfectamente la emoción de muchos fanáticos al ver esta adaptación, sin duda supero mucho mis expectativas, estoy esperando mucho la segunda temporada.. es muy genial dejarse llevar por la historia, te conmueve y te recuerda el poder inagotable de la imaginación humana. Le doy una calificación de.. ***9/10***. Si eres fanático de las historias complejas de fantasía, de los comics de Gaiman o simplemente de las historias fuera de lo común, no puedes perderte esta joya! **Seguramente terminas encantado**.
