Hey guys!! Thanks for stopping by today!
Saturdays are usually a day when I don’t set alarm clocks and try to sleep in a bit and recharge. I slept really well last night and felt pretty good. We had plans to do the hike with our neighbor Jan for the first time in two months as she's been out of town for that long. We also needed to head to church to do a bit of work on sound and lighting related items.
Around 1 PM, we headed out for our hike. It was so good to have Jan back with us. Once we climbed the system of hills and rounded the off grid cabin, we climbed the upper trail and progressed through Bear Hollow. Once we got to the Slumbering Bear trail, it was pretty apparent the weather was moving in. Mind you, the weather forecast said no rain. It began as a light mist, like walking through the fog; you could feel it occasionally hit your face, but no real rain. Then as we finished that trail and hit the Buckhorn Trail, the occasional mist became a full time mist, and upon reaching Towhee Ridge, it was a definitive rain. Since the Upper trail has a lot of plant life that drapes onto the narrow footpath, my jeans always get the brunt of the moisture as I’m the trail breaker. You could have wrung them out, they were so wet. Ugh! After we got the hike done, we said goodbye to Jan and headed indoors for some coffee, a bit of fire in the wood stove and then, to pack up the keyboard I was asked to purchase for the church, and head that way.
First on the agenda was to change the middle stage light. It’s completely different from the other six stage lights, and had me hunting the bulb for a bit. But, leave it to Amazon - they have everything!
proceeded up the step ladder to open up the fixture. Then he took this up;
Yes, I’ll admit it looks like headlights on cars used to look, lol. He proceeded to install the bulb. It works, hallelujah!!
I was asked to purchase a keyboard for the church and this was the one I selected. The keyboard is a Yamaha and has 400 different voices, a lot of cool effects and can even record about 4 minutes of what you play. It’s pretty nice and it’s economical too.
It sounds amazing!
Next on the agenda was to work on fixing the hearing impaired amplifier system, which got fixed promptly. We also were looking to figuring out the built in recording on the sound board. That took a little bit of time as we were doing this with no online help and no manual, but we figured that out as well. We also had wanted to set up a ‘congregational mic’ that would feed the congregation’s voices into our in ear monitors, if we wanted to, so you don’t feel isolated while leading worship. We accomplished quite a bit in our three hours of being there.
Afterwards, we went to Lynden to do a little shopping at one of the stores we frequent, and then on to Dairy Queen for dinner. I hadn’t eaten at Dairy Queen in over 15 years! Their food is good-much better than McD’s and better priced.
After a little bit of Actfit and Steem, it will be time for bed. I am ready!
That’s it for now……………..
Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to keep on steppin’! Any exercise is good for you, so keep at it. Have a wonderful day wherever you are!
