I’d just like to use this post to weigh in on the drug wars debate at the moment. Personally I can see why people are angry at them, especially whales although I think the anger at them is a little unjustified. They have made mistakes marketing it in a way to suggest it is an investment rather than a game with financial rewards.
I think people forget this is a game, we are using Steem like we would gems or other game mechanics to essentially give the user a quicker way to the top. So investing Steem should be thought of a way to get better at the game quicker not an investment.
The making money part should be a bonus, doing well at the game gives you a payout. Increasing the buildings and spending time on the game should get you more Steem and so better payout.
Although people made big profits off this game is was because the whales got in and when the rest of Steem put money into it they sucked everyone else’s Steem. However now the money has stopped pouring in, the whales can’t eat it all up as it comes in. So they are frustrated all this Steem is locked in, but the average smallish gamer can build and use the now huge pool to build Steem ironically from the whales themselves.
Personally I don’t believe that drugwars was malicious in thought when making this game, just the huge amount of attention it has gotten wasn’t anticipated, coupled with marketing and overall mistakes it has caused many problems.
I hope you all had a good day!
