Today’s thought: Many of you will probably know the term lifestyle creep. According to investopedia, lifestyle creep “occurs when an individual's standard of living improves as their discretionary income rises and former luxuries become new necessities” (source).
I’ve invented two more forms of creep - Christmas creep and data creep. Following on from last Friday’s early arrival of Christmas on Oxford street I am seeing more evidence of this:
Town Hall station with its green and red lights.
Christmas creep is the phenomenon of this yearly push to make Christmas arrive earlier than the previous year. Maybe it will arrive in October next year?
I recently got a better deal for my rolling monthly mobile data plan. I got more monthly data and I pay less money. BONUS. In the past my data usage has got painfully close to the limit, even after my previous data limit increase. It’s a pain-point because I tend to want to use mobile data on my train ride to and from school and I’m forced to do other things instead (CAN YOU IMAGINE???). This is my third month on the new plan. For the first two months, with the extra data I was comfortably within the limit. However this month it has come down to the wire again. I call this phenomenon data creep.
This month’s data creep - a serious first-world problem.
Today’s activity: the usual daily activity plus a 5.5 kms run in the 32 degrees early evening heat.
