A good but incredibly sore and stiff Saturday after my 24 hour ultra run.
This morning my hours of circling around the 500 meter course FINALLY came to an end. I spent the might counting down the hours while monitoring the race feed to track my progress and try to figure out where my competition was. It was a cold and quiet night and everyone was pretty much in their own little zone.
Fortunately we had a great group of people to support us when we were struggling and keep us supplied with delicious food.
I was thrilled to hit 50 miles in just under 12 hours but I knew that reaching 100 miles would be incredibly difficult as the hours really beat you up not matter how well you pace and plan. By early morning I was just trying to maintain a fast walk and hold onto my position. Thru race finally turned around and totally bitch slapped me at 23 hours when my legs literally would barely move and I did a dead man shuffle to the tent to call it a race and crawl into my sleeping bag.
So overall it was a great learning experience for my next 24hr (probably in May on the same course) and my total mileage was great for me. Now time to tend to my poor feet and rest and recover.
And I'm just too tired and sore to care about editing my photos so you'll have to take them as they are.
