Hey dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you had a day full of positive experiences! Today I would like to talk about an occult topic and hope you can learn something new.
Here you can see some works of art that I created with the help of artificial intelligence and are supposed to express the Baphomet a little closer. Baphomet is usually depicted as a mixed creature from a goat and a female human with breasts and wings and there are different interpretations about the origin and it is assumed that it originally comes from France and was revered by the Templars. Baphomet appears in some writings from the 14th century and it is assumed that the Templars had worshipped at that time and a huge cult was created around it and often refers to it as a symbolic view often as the Lord of the world. Baphomet is often associated with duality and associated with flowing transitions as well as opposites such as good and evil, light or dark and this also becomes clear when you take a closer look at the representation. Often it is also associated with the well-known Latin word Solve et Coagula and what means as much as dissolve and coagulate and here this principle of mutual principles comes out well and also the links to alchemy should also be made clear here where these principles are also anchored. Alchemy is about dissolving the substance and then adding it again in a better state and from the spiritual point of view of alchemy it is also associated with releasing the mind and then adding it back to the body in an enlightening state and here you can also see the parallels to the occult side of alchemy. The symbolism is really very diverse and often it is also presented as a black and white figure where these flow transitions again express well and it is also often represented with two crescents which are black or white and also here you can see further connections to alchemy where the crescent moon is a well-known symbol for silver.
Baphomet is also often depicted with a torch and this is also supposed to symbolically bring light into the darkness and therefore also associated with the lightbringer Lucifer, which has its origin in Roman mythology. If you are more interested in Lucifer, you will find a post from me here where I have already discussed the topic in more detail. Another symbol of him is the snake which is often regarded as a sign of wisdom as well as the occult and here there are again some parallels to alchemy where the snake is an important symbol and in the past Baphomet was probably still considered as a deity and in later times it was linked to occult faith. It is even assumed that the origin could even be much older and changed at that time and similar mixed creatures with horns already existed in ancient Egypt and a lot of different symbols have been created around this figure and it cannot be assigned to a uniform pattern and there are many different interpretations about Baphomet. From a symbolic point of view, it can also be seen as a union between the male and female aspects which also play an important role in alchemy and there are also connections to the Roman cult of Mithras, which was once created by the light god Mithra. At that time, it was associated with the two creatures Cautes and Cautopates who were known to have worn torches and there are also some links to the Greek god Prometheus who stole the fire from the gods in Olympus to bring it to humanity and here you can recognize the transitions between light and dark. The occult symbol around baphomet was created more and more later and from the 19th century, it was increasingly used in connection with occult beliefs and it is also much associated with mysticism.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about this topic! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens and created the other with AI!
