Dig deep, write from the heart, and win BIG prizes!
If you missed the announcement post, click HERE. There is still time to submit an entry, they're due by Friday, September 9th.
There are so many talented writers and poets coming to the platform every day, it can be hard to see all the new content they're producing. The Poetry Slam Challenge is meant to build up the community around poetry in all forms, and that depends on your participation and sharing! The response so far has been humbling, with some great familiar names as well as some new community members submitting amazing work. There's still time to get an entry in and join in the chance to win up to 150 SBD.
Poetry Slam Challenge #1 Judge:
Though I only recently discovered their work, has moved me with their art and experimentation. I know Steemians are busy people, so I was thrilled when they accepted my invitation and then went above and beyond, contributing SBD to the prize pool. It is clear that this writer believes in the power of poetry, and if you haven't had a look through their work, just read their BLOG. With what I feel is a very keen sense of poetry and the structure therein,
is going to be a great contributor with insightful feedback. When we share, we grow.
And don't forget to click follow, so you can enjoy 's work as it is released (The non-fiction Hospitality series is particularly practical while significantly philosophic)
Community HIGHLIGHT:
It's best to first highlight the newer community members, as they are producing some beautiful work that deserves love and may not be receiving the same exposure as other talented writers who have been here longer. These are only a sampling of entries:
This is a new community member poet from the great Northwest US, and her influences include Charles Bukowski and tragic love. As a fan of the tragedy and beauty of love, I can appreciate the offerings she has published so far and look forward to seeing more of her work. You can check out her blog HERE and give her a follow. I'm keeping an eye on her.
Poetry Slam Challenge #1 Entry: Again, yet different
Based on their profile, this user sounds like a busy new mother who made time to write some poetry for the Slam. This entry is a dark journey through a public transit commute. Poignant and foreboding, it surely leaves a lasting impression. Hopefully we can lure away from Game of Thrones more often to share this kind of work!
Poetry Slam Challenge #1 Entry: (Loco-motive)
There are always new users, and we never know what talents they'll bring. Welcome to the community!
