I started writing this post NINE DAYS AGO… Fragmented. That’s what I am now… (Is that what I’ve always been, but now I keep better notes so I can SEE how fragmented I am?)
Anyway, I’ve finished my chores for the day, so now I can PLAY, and today’s fun is updating the everlasting and ever expanding MUSEUM OF POSTCARD ART!!! I have a MAGILLA of new postcards that I need to scan, still, but I did get a few of my most recent acquisitions VISUALLY ETERNALIZED! (Now, though their little, fragile postcard bodies may succumb to the ravages of time, their VISAGES will live far beyond their impermanent physical forms. I think I’m finally getting PLATONIC FORMS… (Sort of…) (…at least in a psychological sense…))
Fragmented, remember. I’m experiencing four different conversations in my head right now: my entertainment brain is partially watching and mostly listening to Urgh! A Music War on the t.v.; my sensory brain is registering the sensation of my typing fingers on the plastic keys; my word-brain is trying to comb through vocabulary and conceptual elements to most adequately express my intended meanings; and my future-projection brain is planning all the things I want/need to do after I finish this task. Tough to finish anything when you’ve already moved on before you complete the CURRENT TASK!
Now, so that I keep the format as close to uniform as I can, I’m going to look at my previous MOPA post and see how I presented everything AND double check what my COLLECTION SCORE sits at. (This is important---for some reason. I seem to believe that giving a “score” to collecting will inspire other folks to try their hands at creating their own MUSEUMs OF POSTCARD ART, so they can COMPETE with me. Can YOU beat my score??? I bet you can’t. No way. Impossible… Wanna try???)
If this is your first encounter with the MOPA, here are some links to the previous posts:
Take a look, if you are so inclined…
[Later, after reading a few older posts…]
Okay. At the end of the last update, the MUSEUM had 35 inducted cards, 11 honorable mentions (cards that didn’t make it IN), and a total of 65 points! For those who don’t know how points work, and who don’t want to look through the old posts to see, here’s how they break down:
1 point for any card that makes it into the museum.
1 bonus point for any card that is hand-made / altered / or one-of-a-kind.
2 bonus points for any card that has actually been through the mail.
1 bonus point if a card fills up a physical book, or (to put it another way) is the final card completing a particular collection. (We are currently working on filling BOOK 2!)
Got it? Okay, let’s do it!!!

---New Inductees
0036 – “More Human Than Human” by Dept. M & M
This is a brilliant card sent from the COUNTS collective. It’s 1 point for making it in, 1 point for being hand made, and 2 points for coming through the mail! That’s 4 points right out of the gate!!!
0037 – “Say Cheese and Smile Pretty!” by Marcia Rubin
Only 1 point for this one, but it’s still funny!
0038 – “Frankenstein” by SUPERFLYGECKOS
Only 1 point for this one, but that seems wrong to me. It’s such a great card, it should be worth ten…
0039 – “The Devil – XV – Tarot Card – Baphomet” by NEMOS
1 point for this one, too.
0040 – “Hail Satan (Zelda)” by Thomas Nunn
Mariah and I LOVE The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina… Such a fun show! 1 point.
0041 – “Creature Pop!” by SASHAKEEN
1 point. Very cool card, though.
0042 – “I Believe in Myself” by The Peach Fuzz
1 point. Funny! Great colors!
0043 – “Millett’s Motel” by Seabury & Co.
This is another classic, kitschy travel card, sent to me from Mr. O’Brien. I love these vintage cards! 1 point for the card, and 2 points for having come through the mail = 3 points.
0044 – “Hollyweird” by M. Con Unts
Another brilliant 4 point card from M&M. One of my favorites!
0045 – “Odd, Primitive Beauty” by Marcus Aurelius
I love this one! And, it’s worth 4 points!
0046 – “Dig It” by Marky The Count
Something creepy about this one… But awesome, none the less. 4 points!
0047 – “Processor Upgrade” by M. W. Counts
The scan doesn’t really do this one justice. You’ll definitely have to see it in person when the MOPA comes traveling through your town!!! 4 points!!!
0048 – “Secrets” by Mahrk Cowntz
This one REALLY appeals to me! Simple, clean, funny. Good stuff! AND this one COMPLETES BOOK TWO!!! So that’s 1 point for the card, 1 point for being hand made, 2 points for going through the mail, and 1 point for being the finisher, so FIVE POINTS on this one!!! Wow…
So let’s see (do I have enough fingers for this???) That’s six cards at 1 point each, one card at 3 points, five 4 point cards, and one 5 point card!!! That comes to 34, if I’m not mistaken. (Where’s my phone. I’ll calculate on there…) Plus last update’s 65 points brings this collection to a WHOPPING 99 points!!! Holy smokes. I feel like I should get a candy bar or something for that! How long until YOUR collection gets to 100 points? Mine won’t be long now….

Now we come to the SAD part of the show, the cards that didn’t fit. In this case, these were both 5x7 inches, instead of 4x6, but I still like them. They are from the Treasure Island casino in Vegas (which I never got to see before they stopped having mock-battles outside the building for passersby to watch… That’s okay. At least I got a couple of postcards from there!)
---Honorable Mentions
HM – 12
HM – 13

And that’s it for this update! We are now at 48 cards in the MOPA with two full books of physical cards! We also have 13 honorable mentions that ALMOST made it… (No points for the honorable mentions.)
If you want to play along, this is a great way to support independent artists by buying cards from them off of sites like Redbubble or Zazzle or some other PRINT ON DEMAND type of platform, or directly from them from Etsy or similar places!!! Postcards are also an inexpensive but fun way to stay in contact with family and friends (two bucks for a card and like half-a-dollar for a stamp), that's SUPER CHEAP! It's also a cool way to collect art! (Easy to store and display in little booklets or cheap frames!) PLUS, you’ll be supporting your local postal service, keeping them in business, which helps make DEMOCRACY RUN SMOOTHLY! (Political jab!) So---buy some postcards, get some stamps, write a nice note and stay in contact, all without risking the health of your loved ones---or get a few cards and start building your PERSONAL ART GALLERY of small, inexpensive works (but which still help to support indie artists, if you buy woke from those folks!) It’s all incredibly fun!!! So do it, damn it!!!
Later!!!
