Under Construction
Phase 2 of STEEMTOWN is underway! Over the past few days I’ve received an incredible wave of ideas and support for this community art experiment. Next week I’ll be posting a 3D rendering of the full second phase inclusive of the many new proposals that YOU provided. Thank you all so much for your amazing support and enthusiasm!
For today, I wanted to share an update of a Church building in progress. This image was submitted by of the historic and Neo-Gothic First Presbyterian Church in Napa California. This building was built in 1874 at the corner of 3rd and Randalf Street. Using the photograph that was submitted, I tracked down the original location and grabbed a few extra images to aid modeling accuracy and detail of the overall building.
Here are a few snapshots of the building in progress...
Here is the near-final building that will be added to STEEMTOWN this week...
What’s STEEMTOWN?
STEEMTOWN is an ongoing community art project powered through your comments and ideas. Each week, a new phase of buildings will be added to the Town derived from the photographs, quotes, stories and feedback provided by you! For more, here is a link to the introductory post of STEEMTOWN and the project mission.
An Exercise in Building Community
Through this project - I hope to engage in a broader dialogue with fellow Steemians about their own sense of place and placemaking. These types of game-structured conversations are a fascinating way of learning more about what a person defines as his or her “community”... It’s a way of us connecting to one another through the geographies we are deeply tied to and knowledgeable of. In a world of links, likes, upvotes and IP addresses, it’s exciting to explore ways of bridging the digital divide and connecting with those on the other side of the screen.
Stay tuned for Phase 2 of STEEMTOWN later this week…
Thank you to for the thoughtful image submission!
