Traditional indigenous dance in Australia is the Aboriginal Corroboree. It is a way Aboriginal Australians interact with the 'Dreamtime' (a religio-cultural worldview of beliefs) through dance, music and costume.
The word Corroboree comes from the Aboriginal word Caribberie.
Quite often it is men depicted in heritage corroborees (sometimes called Joonba) and festive corroborees (sometimes called Wangka), but the women's is called Munga Munga. I wanted to portray a woman performing a dance, passionately kicking up the dust in fierce expression.
