I've spent the last two weeks sleeping on a cheep sleeping mat, which has been OK but man was I glad when my new bed and mattress arrived from IKEA today.
Flatpack, naturally, it being from IKEA!
What I loved about the whole assembly process is the way it's basically been designed so you just can't go wrong...
The main aspect of the design is having discrete sets of screws and dowling rods that are different sizes that all perform the same function and obviously fit in with appropriate sized holes on various bits of the frame.
You simply can't go wrong because there is only one size of screw that will fit in the appropriate whole....
I especially liked the way they put two holes in one half of the back board so you can't get this the wrong way round: it only lines up one way!
It still took me about two hours all in to put it together, more like three once i'd added in way too many tea breaks, but that's all part of the fun.
And it's so nice to have a nice bed to sleep on tonight...
The only downside is that it takes 72 hours for the mattress to fully inflate' back up to maximum loft having been rolled and vacuum backed in plastic, something which still amazes me.
This is a major step forwards to making my still rather empty of furniture house feel more like a home!
And I'm sure I'll get a VERY good night's sleep tonight!
