For fathers' day this year my daughter bought me some beers from breweries in Portsmouth. You may notice a dinosaur theme going on. I have been saving these until I recovered a bit from COVID so I could taste them better, although I did not really lose my sense of taste.
I cannot see this one on the Staggeringly Good Brewery site, so it may have been a limited eddition. They are giving half the profits to support refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. This is a terrible campaign by the Russian leadership that is affecting millions of innocent people.
The ingredients are pretty minimal in what they call a New England IPA. There have been a few of those over here lately. There was one called East Coast from Greene King that I used to drink at the local pub. I find them very refreshing and great for this current hot weather. It is a pretty strong one at 5.8%.
Beer goes well with pizza and we had one with some garlic mushrooms and doughballs. That is garlic dip on the plate too. The beer has a good head and is quite cloudy, as you would expect when it is unfiltered. Yes, we do have cookies too!
It is a good one. Slightly sweet and I had to have it cold. Just what I needed. I think it is fairly hoppy, but I do not mind that. I would say it has a bit of 'body' to it. Life is too short for bland beers.
Cheers!
