I review the mango hard seltzer a while ago and the mixed berry is not as good as that flavor. However, it’s not that bad. I’m realizing I still don’t like seltzer flavor, but if there is enough fruit flavor added it covers up that unwanted taste.
The redeeming quality is how light and refreshing these drinks are over a heavier beer. I don’t always want to crush a beer on a 90 degree day and these are great alternatives. I’m also not a huge mixed drink fan. They are a bit too sweet for my liking. If I’m going to drink liquor it’s going to be a good whiskey or scotch that’s neat or over the rocks.
Mixed berry has a crystal clear appearance that’s filled with loads of carbonation. It looks like a carbonated water so they nailed that.
The aroma is light with notes of sweet berry that’s a bit acidic. You get a fair amount of that earthy seltzer which is a bit strong for me.
The tastes is light and fruity. It’s not an identifiable fruit it’s more of a sweetness. It’s forward, but fades quickly and finishes like a seltzer. Again I’d like the flavor to cover that seltzer more, but for people who like these I’m sure it’s just fine.
The mouthfeel is light, bubble and slightly sticky. This one is a bit thicker than the mango. I’d like to say that’s a good texture, but I want it to be as light as possible.
Like said it the beginning I like these for the refreshing light qualities. It quenches the thirst on a hot day so I can see the appeal. It’s also got enough alcohol to give you a pretty good buzz!
