I love a good colloboration brew, where two breweries get together for a one off brew. Today's beer is one of those colloborations.
It's under the label of 'One brew Nation' which is the sub-brand that a Sydney brewery called Nomad use when they are doing collaborations. Now Nomad itself was a bit of side project for some beer importers who were importing Italian craft beers - eventually they convinced one of the brewers at Birra de Borgo to move to Australia and brew here - hence the Nomad moniker.
And in this beer they are collaborating with one of the bigger US craft brewers - Rogue, which don't really need explaining.
So there we have it - One brew nation is a combination of an Italian based in Australia and some Americans.
And like most Nomad beers it used native Australian ingredients this time the wattleseed, all wrapped in a brown ale. to compliment it we combined it with an amazing cinnamon donut for our local artisan hot chocolate maker (because that's a thing apparently)
As you can see in the pic above this brown ale actually had a bit of a red hue to it.
It had a very gentle carbonation, this made it very quaffable, the texture what like a gentle stout, perfect for heading into winter.
Strong flavourful malt backbone with hints of chocolate and sweetness, but then it is rounded out with a nice nuttiness, almost clove like flavours from the wattleseed.
All in all a fantastic beer, and a great way to spend a friday afternoon.
So we have a Wattleseed Brown Ale.
and if you are wondering what the hashtag #Beersaturday is, well it's a competition organised by where we can all get to together and enjoy a beer - check out all the details on the main weekly post - @detlev/beersaturday-week-157
