I feel at home with this article. After leaving military service, I became addicted to drugs and alcohol. I developed a huge gambling habit. At first I maintained it, and was making good money doing computer service. But it all caught up to me. I lost my wife, car, house, and was over 500k in debt.
I started breaking the law to make money, and was quickly locked up for 2 years. Luckily while I was in my ex wife filed bankrupcy for me and I was able to get out of my debt.
After leaving jail, I moved in with my mother, and turned all my finances over to her. It has helped alot, although once and a while I get my hands on 100 bucks and I end up at the casino or buying lottery. But as long as I turn all my cash over to her, I don't have the problem. Perhaps finding someone to hold onto your money, an accountability partner, would be of great help.
I hope my comment will help in some way.
