Some side control tips to control a scrambling person that comes with allot of explosive energy. I been using this side control in tournaments and I have been very successful. A few tips to help you. Works well in gi as well as in nogi.
Do not be lazy in side control, you can stay very heavy if you get up on your toes instead of your knees.
There is a natural handle underneath the armpit of your opponent, try to grab that from side control and you can maintain top position without use of two hands.
Think push downwards instead of away in top pressure, use the ground and press your opponent into ground.
