Shallow Thoughts
I cashed in some credit card reward points for a Home Depot gift certificate and decided to spend it on a project to add a stepping stone path to my lawn and fix all the ugly spots around my yard. The required loading several hundred pounds of stone, sand, and soil into the trunk of my car and then unloading them into the yard:
I'll also be installing a rain barrel next to my downspout, so I laid out a brick foundation for that as well:
There's still quite a bit of digging and leveling to be done, but it's good to know that my recent kettlebell training provided enough functional strength to do this kind of work without hurting myself. I'm looking forward to enjoying the finished product. And greening up that lawn a bit!
Deep Thoughts
My older daughter has fully recovered from her tonsillectomy and is now sleeping well through the night.
My younger daughter was diagnosed with an even more severe sleep apnea and will be getting her tonsils removed this Friday. The subsequent 2 weeks will likely be quite miserable as she recovers, but I believe the short term pain will be well worth the long term gain to her sleep quality.
My own sleep apnea is more mild, but enough that I'll be trying out an oral appliance. And I went ahead and stopped drinking alcohol completely because I need to improve the quality of my sleep whenever/wherever/however I can.
As I said in the VItamin S post, don't underestimate the importance of good sleep, and be willing to put effort into improving your sleep. The benefits are real!
