It's Sunday, that means do what you want, eat what you want, stop working and just relax a bit!
The city I live in is known for its whaling history. They were vicious hunters of this majestic creature. The world has come a long way since then and the city has many whale themed parks and museums in honor of the whales who had to suffer long ago...
The Cafe
We will be on a boat today heading out to sea with high hopes of seeing some whales! We booked our tickets and waited at a nearby cafe until we can board our ship.
At the cafe we were greeted by this lovely Teddy, just chilling and keeping an eye on everyone.
With our coffee, we decided to have some dessert, because it's Sunday afternoon and we can eat what we want.
Sweet bread with honey and whipped cream, then drizzled with chocolate sauce. Interesting and a bit od, but very delicious. Put my sugar craving to rest real fast!
From our cafe's roof, we were able to see the whale museum and our boat!
The time has come to finally board, being a little nervous since I have not been on a boat in ages, at least not one of this size. I knew there might be a slight possibility of feeling sick since a common swing is enough to make my stomach turn. Then again how bad can it be, it's probably all in my head... (starting to doubt that dessert choice we made...)
Time to board!
The boat was huge on the inside and really not what I expected! Aircons, screens, a stage and enough seating for a small army.
We decided to sit at the very top on the outside. The fresh air was lovely and there was a very lively buzz. Whole families with many kids were everywhere. All snacking away while we waited for the voyage.
And we're off!
The boat was slow but it had a heavy hum to it. Was quite soothing and refreshing. I took some pictures from the back of the boat as we said goodbye to land.
The weather was not the most pleasant but we headed out hopeful in seeing some whales!
The Entertainment.
Not long after starting the journey they announced some entertainment! It was mostly for kids but knowing myself I went and sat cross legged in front of the stage. Feeling like a kid watching his first ever magic show. This was hardly my first though, I just needed a distraction from the constant backflips my stomach was making...
Once again, Korea kids are extremely cute, just look at her!
Not everyone was amazed though... I know I am a horrible person for taking this picture but I used my ninja skills to take it without anyone noticing. Through all the kids shouting, people cheering and waves crashing outside, this family managed to sneak it an incredible power nap!
Dark times...
My stomach informed me that it had no idea what was going on but whatever it is, I better stop or it will retaliate. We headed back upstairs and the rest of the trip was just me concentrating not to hurl and display my previous coffee and dessert... As we progress you will see the pictures getting slightly darker. This was simply because my mood was going from when can I see a whale, to when can I get off this boat... We retreated to the back of the boat and jsut sat there for the remainder of the trip.
We were going straight into oncoming waves... It was not very pleasant but the sound the waves made was incredible.
This for some reason was my favorite photo of the day.
But
we came here to see some whales!
Sadly, the whales were not impressed by the weather and slightly rough seas. So I regret to inform you there were no whales to be seen... So instead I leave you with this picture with all kinds of whales.
And this last one of a grandfather caring for his grandchild while she is in awe of the ocean and the incredible view...
As soon as we got off the boat I headed home as fast as I could to just lie down and reassure my stomach that all is well. Overall even though it was not the most fun experience it was one to remember. I will surely do it again on a day with better weather.
Thanks for joining me on my Slow Sunday. Sorry for not showing you any whales and the dark ending, the sea sickness got to me and I had to really focus on not making a fool of myself. =)
Thank you for reading and see you again next week for another Slow Sunday with .
