Dumbrava - Chruch Destroyed

The chapel was erected in 1898. The architect who made the plans, Alpár Ignác, was one of the most famous Buddhist architects of his time. Among its many achievements are the Post Office and the "C.D. Loga "in Timisoara.
One of the most beautiful places of worship in Timiş, the Reformed church of Dumbrava, built in 1901 according to the plans of renowned architect Ignác Alpár, was left tower after the 17 September storm.

On that day, Dumbbell Days were held in the courtyard of the church, attended by many inhabitants. 20 minutes before the start of the storm, the mayor of Dumbrava received a phone call from the company he rented the scene. People were begging him to shelter children and gather the scene as urgently as possible. Edgar John Ihasz immediately received the message and began the evacuation.

"Several contests were scheduled at Dumbrava Days. The most beautiful idiots and the most ugly scarecrow, as well as the Miss Faget Country, which many children attended. Calling the one who rented the scene, we had enough time to stop and hide the children and not just the Cultural Home. I took the microphone immediately by telling the citizens that there was a very big storm. That's how we got the stations, the speakers, to get them off the stage. We've been able to dismantle the big tent we have. Only the scene is left, "Ioan Ihasz told.

The people were taken to the shelter, but the mayor and several volunteers remained in the area. It did not come to believe how the tower of the reformed church collapsed.

"Four minutes before the storm reached the center of the village, I took a panoramic picture. In four minutes the tower was no longer. Then was the wind speed very high. You could not stand, "says Ioan Ihasz.

Last year, on August 17, the tower of the reformed church was damaged by a less stormy storm. Funds were also received from the Hungarian Government, which offered 70,000 euros for the rehabilitation of the church. This time the storm was ruthless.

"The tower fell and affected the church side above the church organ, which is of inestimable value. For the reconstruction of the church tower and the complete reconstruction of the roof, we are expecting the designers from Cluj, who had a project for rehabilitation of the tower. We look forward to seeing the new tower solution and strengthening the tower's resistance structure, "said the mayor of Dumbrava.

The Reformed Church launched a campaign on all paths to raise funds to restore the tower. Likewise, the twin cities in Hungary with the commune of Dumbrava promised to allocate money to the reformed church.
