As I have been able to take advantage of the low Steem prices, I have been able to achieve a good Steem Power amount that has me considering the next steps in my journey. Given the recent deployment of some interesting cards for the game and the fact that I have been struggling to climb the leaderboards, I have decided to buy a lrage amount of cards this week. This was a big step for me as I am overzealous of spending any Steem for any reason as I treasure it as one of my most valuable assets. However, I have recently noticed how the digital assets of the Steem Monster cards have held up in value relative to the Steem price itself. I have noticed a pocket of cards that have increased in value!
Like many assets, the card value are driven by supply and demand. I have recentlt been noticing that the value of Summoners have held up pretty well. I think it is due to their scarcity as me myself have very little and have been unable to have enough to level up and use with my higher level Monster cards. In addition, the newly distributed and available Legendary Summoners were not as available as many would have wanted, hence their scarcity and higher values. I have seen these come down from an average of $9 per card to $6 and thought it would be a good opportunity.
I started with buying enough of the Beta Epic Summoners to level my others up to use with my collection. These were averaging slightly below $1 each but I needed to buy about 8-9 of each to get to level 4 on most of them. I have been unable to leverage these cards in battle as the use of higher level cards were limited to the level of those I had. These Summoners are great choices to use when faced with the challenge that disables the buffs of Summoners. I have gotten that often and have been unable to compete well given the limitation of my cards.
One of the main reasons I decided to make this purchase was my OCD of having a complete collection. With the somewhat unlucky (not ungrateful) airdrop I got from the Legendary Summoners, I was left without most of the new cards. However, I knew that leaving it to randomness in buying more packs would not be the solution given the scarcity of these cards. In addition, I did not want to want have the same issues with not being able to use the cards given them being more low level than the rest. Lastly, I also wanted to have some cards to use while the increases in mana cap remain in the game. Having mana caps now up to 32, require the use of more Legendaries to be compete. So, I went to the market place and bought a couple of each! Afterwards, I noticed I forgot about the new Life Splinter Legendary!
There you have it! Almost 500 Steem used to buy Steem Monster cards! That is over $130 worth of Steem there! However, I quickly realized that I spend more than that when buying Beta Booster packs to open ($200) and I have chosen the cards I want to power my collection and teams. The only problem is that this to may become addictive! My first battle with the new cards actually gave me a chance to try out one of the new Legendary Summoners:
I was actually put against another Legendary Summoner but the additional buffs worked really well for my team with the ruleset in place. I am looking forward to continuing to put these cards in play as we approach the end of the season! Next step will be to add some more Monsters to level up as well! I hope this will get me one step closer to competing well for some tournaments in the future.
