It looks like a Porsche, it has a Porsche body but it's not a Porsche, it's RUF, German auto company and independent manufacturer with this stunning 1998 RUF Turbo R :

It's one of 14 examples produced by RUF and one of four chassis with All-Wheel Drive. Pure beast with an estimated price of $US 550,000. Ready to sell some HBD ? 😀

History of RUF Turbo R

RUF Automobile GmbH converts Porsche bodies without a factory VIN (vehicle identification number) to create their own supercars. The company was founded by Alois Ruf Sr in 1939 as a service garage. In 1974, after the founder's death, his son, Alois Ruf Jr began to customize Porsche 911 to make them faster. In 1977, he completed his first full conversion. In 1981, the German government gave his agreement in order to change the legal standing of the company, from tuning house to automobile manufacturer. It shows the quality and seriousness of this company 👍

In 1987, RUF presented the RUF CTR (stands for Group C Turbo RUF). The yellow car participated at a special competition by Road & Track magazine in order to determine the fastest production car in the world. The CTR won the competition with a top speed of 340 kmh beating Porsche 959, Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Countach and Diablo. It was dubbed the Yellow Bird. This model, 1998 RUF Turbo R, os one of the most beautiful and rarest air-cooled road car. Only 14 examples were produced.

For this model, RUF purchased 7 new 993 Turbo bodies to create an incredible air-cooled car based on based on 408 hp Type 993 Turbo engine. Each model is unique with the specification of its purchased, Limited Edition.

Specification

This 1998 RUF Turbo R is equipped with a twin turbocharged 3.6-liter engine mated with six speed manual transaxle producing 490 hp.

It has also unique specifications :
🚗 integrated roll cage,
🚗 sports suspension,
🚗 18 inch aluminum wheels,
🚗 brake calipers finished with Yellowbird paint.

This model finished in black over rich black leather with all options sport seats with harness aluminum pedals, steering wheel... The car slept during 11 years in a storage (why have a car like that in your garage and never use it ? I don't understand). In 2019, the car was completely restored (650 hours of work done by a Master Porsche mechanic and former RUF employee).
