No one has ever become poor by giving.

I've been the recipient of a care package in the past; I'll be honest and say it was a fairly emotional moment. It wasn't the items in the package that made it so although they were amazingly welcome and treasured...It was more the thought behind it, the care that someone showed to send such a thing. It touched me and, at a time when I was under duress, it helped keep me focused and on track. It's something I'll never forget; the gesture.
International care package
The idea of sending care packages around the world is not new to me; I did it a while back with a package going to Romania, United Kingdom, Germany and three to America; Hive users were the recipients. Unfortunately some of those individuals are gone, however two of them I communicate with still, on and off the blockchain. I value them.
I recently decided to send a care package across the world once again as I determined the recipient was worthy, and would appreciate the gesture. You can read more about it in this post if you like.
Essentially though, showed interest in a post I did about a local area close to where I live, a wine region called Barossa Valley, also saying he loves the wines from the area. I'd bought three bottles of limited edition wines there and, because Boomy is a champ, I decided to offer one to him, sent to his door as a gift from me.
Because he is a gentleman declined, but I really wanted to send it to him and so I persisted like a junk yard dog let off the chain. Actually, I didn't need to work that hard...I just insisted he accept.
The limited edition DR3 Shiraz from St Hugo Wines, Rowland Flat, South Australia - Australia. It's a collaboration between the winery and Daniel Ricciardo, the Australia Formula One racing driver who drives for Mclaren Racing.
Some may say I just wanted to get his address and phone number so I could dox him on Hive but that's not totally true at all. I just wanted to do something nice for someone who seems a nice family chap and who has supported me, and others, here on Hive. So, he accepted the offer and this weekend I packed up the wine and sent it to him via Australia Post.
Of course, I wasn't happy to simply send the wine. Oh no...Boomy has a couple of kids so getting them hyped up on chocolate is essential. They'll probably drive him mad madder. My care factor? Zero. 🤣
Yesterday I looked around for something that had an Australian connection and ended up buying some chocolate for the kids, a couple packets of Tim Tam chocolate biscuits for the kiddos and adults alike, some Fruchocs (owned and made here in South Australia) and some Vegemite and cheese Shapes which are Australian-shaped savoury crackers. They're legit tasty! Of course, what care package from Australia would be complete without Vegemite. It would be un-Australian of me to not send Vegemite.
I also threw in some Australian animal stickers and a few little story books by May Gibbs that I hope his kids like. If they don't well...I know Boomy himself will love them.
So, the package is on its way from my house in Australia to Boomy's in Scotland, approximately twenty seven million, six hundred and thirty three thousand, four hundred and nineteen kilometres away, and I'm keen to hear he has received the package. I think he'll do a got a care package from Australia Hive post so look out for it. He might do a Vegemite taste-test for y'all.
I hope you enjoy your stuff Boomy and think of me when you're eating those Tim Tam's, Fruchocs and sipping that DR3 wine...But not in a weird way...
...unless you really want to that is.
