It was now time to head back to The Lakes, and even though it was getting a bit late, we all agreed we would rather push on and get home than find somewhere to stay overnight. It was a good thing we did to be honest, as Storm Arwen was fast approaching...Check out our experience of it here:

As we had managed to top up at Lidl in Mere Green on the way down, we knew that we needed to top up again when we left Silverstone. Zap Map App once again came to the rescue, showing us a working rapid charger within 7 miles of Silverstone:
We arrived at the BP garage in Brackley, and got charging! We got to charging, and as it was cold, we sat in the car and relaxed whilst the Pulse charger did it's thing.
One handy feature of the iSmart App is the ability to turn the charge off from your phone instead of standing in the cold.
As we travelled back in the icy dark and pelting slushy rain, we found that there was not one but three diversions that took us off the motorway -eeek!
This - combined with the dropping temperatures - adversly affected the range, meaning that our comfortable buffer was dwindling. I also needed a comfort break myself, so we made the decision to stop at Norton Canes services with the thought that there wouldn't be a queue for the one working charger at 11PM at night.
This turned out to be correct, and we were able to park up and start charging straight away...Hurrah! It was now time to celebrate with a festive Quality Street themed hot chocolate 😋
With the extra mileage needed with the diversions, it was a good thing we did top up there, as Waze was showing that we wouldn't make it back home until after 3AM!
As you will see from Part 2, we were getting rather tired, meaning that the random jibber jabber got even more random!
All's well that ended well, though, as we all made it back safely, having had an enjoyable family outing to the Festive Lap of Lights!
