I wish you all had a merry Christmas surrounded by your family and your loved ones, and still have some leftovers to eat from the dinner (I do haha). It s been more than five years that I live in Taiwan and almost as many Christmas that I spent far from my family. It's definitely the hardest time of the year to be far from your family but I take comfort on the proximity that Video calls can bring despite the distance, and in my "Taiwanese family" with which I love to share the French culture and cuisine during the celebrations.
We had some good childish fun preparing the Christmas tree together:
.. and enjoy l'apéro (apetizers) : french saucisson and pâté (dry sausage and canned meat fraudulently imported in my luggage, shhh), tapenade (cream of olive), with good Belgium beer and some locally made French bread.
For entrance, some smoked salmon and leek pie
Follow by a duck confit and its mixed fried vegetables, all of this toasted with some good wine ;)
Since I am a living French cliché, I had to buy pretty much all the kinds of cheeses that I found in Carrefour:
It was then time for the Christmas iced cake and a good cup of champaign:
Before enjoying the gift exchange and have some good fun altogether =)
Hope you all had a great Christmas and you still feel full =D
Best wishes from Taiwan!
