Everything hurts! haha. I think I've eaten so much that my entire body, including my joints, is inflamed. I spent Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day eating.
I had the typical "Christmas dinner" when the time was right. You know, the pigs in blanket, stuffed and roasted turkey, veggies and so on. I even had the biscuits (that's cookies to you across the pond). What I did also eat, however, were lots of snacks (read full meals) in-between meals haha.
A bit of pesto, a bit of cheese, I got leftovers looking like a restaurant meal while pressing play on another cheesy Netflix movie. I don't know why it was recommended to us, but we ended up watching some strange version of Home Alone, except it was a girl stuck in a school.
☀️ Sunny Christmas
It was one of the shortest days of the year, being three days from the Solstice, but it was also one of the sunniest. It wasn't really that cold either. I'm sure many people took the opportunity to hang out in the local parks as the weather was actually perfect for that. The very low, but bright, sun must have created the most amazing views over the lake in the middle of the park.
I should have taken my new shiny camera to capture the birds doing their thing over the water, but I couldn't be bothered to move. Besides, I was in a sugar rush-crash loop like most people in the country :)
Boxed in
The thick dark clouds blanketed London in the middle of the night and persisted right through Boxing day. I didn't mind, of course, because I wasn't intending to set foot outside all day anyway. There was more food to eat and more Netflix to watch.
To my horror, my iPhone reminded me that I had to pick up a family member from the airport. It was a pretty dreary drive with a lot of bad behaviour on the roads. Londoners are terrible drivers on average, but it's particularly bad on days like this. People have been drinking, or haven't had enough sleep, but have decided to get behind the wheel anyway.
There were a couple of moments on the road when I had to harness my two decades of driving experience.
I didn't enjoy being boxed in by three lorries, one of which was trying to overtake at 80 mph on a dark rainy road. Someone please tell these people that a lorry is not a Golf GTi.
Driving is truly the most dangerous thing most of us ever do. Controlling a 1.5 tonne killing machine at high speed is way too much responsibility to give to the average human I think.
Anyhow, I'm grateful I home in one piece. Time for a snack.
Peace and Love ✌🏿
