Looks like there's a trend now. We've seen meatless sausage, vegetarian bacon that has nothing to do with animals and so many other food products that has nothing to do with the original.

Now it looks like we're going to have "Molecular Coffee" which is brewed entirely without coffee beans.
This hurts a bit even though I'm not a coffee drinker any more. I have up drinking coffee in September last year but I still have a high respect for coffee. I used to drink strong espresso, made from coffee beans and always said the best coffee is made from beans, not from some powder made of who knows what. This statement might look a bit odd but it's confirmed by a heart specialist.
Many years ago I went to a heart specialist with a relative of mine who had some heart problems. She was asked if she drinks coffee, the answer was yes, and the specialist said it's not a problem if she has one coffee a day but that should be made of real coffee beans, not soluble, so called "coffee".
Now back to the original subject of my post, it looks like some "smart" people have thought it's time to create a coffee that has never seen any coffee beans, and they call it "molecular coffee".
I don't know about you but if I were to drink coffee again, my choice would be the original! I like quality and won't settle for anything when I have the original.
There’s actually a good argument for finding more sustainable ways to produce coffee: Plants often require greenhouse-gas inducing pesticides, and the coffee industry is a notorious contributor to deforestation and labor rights issues. Not to mention that viable land is increasingly scarce — a recent study found that around half of the earth’s coffee-growing land will be unproductive by 2050, likely driving even more deforestation as farms move into (and destroy) greener pastures. source
Ok, they might have a point there but why are they calling it coffee when it has nothing to do with it?
This reminds me of a series we used to watch when we were kids, it's called Arabella. There were some funny stuff going on in this movie. There was a ring and whoever had it, had the magic power of transforming things and people into whatever they wanted. They could also disappear just by turning the ring on their finger.
In this series they had some funny food creating power as well. They just put a pill or two on the plate, added some sauce from a tube and they got a nice dish like mashed potatoes with a grilled chicken breast in a split second. I guess scientists are working on that too.
Soooo, jokes aside, I'm not happy with this piece of information, I'd love to see the old fashioned coffee beans still used when it comes to making coffee.
Am I old fashioned? Do I have high expectations? Am I the only one who don't want to accept new things when it comes to coffee?
