I've been out of commission again for a couple months. Family matters, health, and being in yet another play were all factors. We've also been prepping for back to back rock & Gem shows the we are involved in. last Saturday We had a Membership drive with our local club. It involved displays, demonstrations and a silent auction. I've limited photos to displays and one Demo.
First is my fossil display
This display has won first place peoples choice award three years in a row.
I put this crystal display together
Due to the limited amount of space this case afforded, I was not able to display my full collection.
Pecos Valley diamonds are popular item in Roswell, as well as being the dedicated mineral of Chavez county and Roswell. Here is a display showing crafts made with these quartz crystals.
Straight out of the potash mine in Carlsbad NM is this display of Blue Phantom Halite.
These specimens are becoming rarer by the minute, as that section of the mine collapsed and is no longer accessible.
Cabochons are Popular among the club members
These are all handcrafted by members of the club.
Some members take it a step further and make jewelry.
One member likes collecting animal carvings
Another likes Geodes
Still another likes to polish large specimens.
Note the alien heads
These Ca-china dolls are made purely of stones and paint.
Maybe some feathers.
Others like slabs
I like them all and have some of each.
Hear we see Madam President teaching a student how to make Gem trees.
Next weekend is the bigger show in Carlsbad NM. We have three tables reserved. It's our first show to sell at. Not sure how I feel about that. We will see. Be sure to check out our post after it happens, or better yet stop on by.
