Here Comes a Hot Pepper
If you're a heat seeker or a salsa lover, you would have already had an encounter with this hot little pepper. If you've never heard of the infamous habanero, keep on reading. It may be the spice you've been missing.
Orinally thought to have been from Havana, Cuba, hence the name Habanero, these peppers can be found in abundance in the Carribean and near the South American Amazon Basin. With the rise in popularity, the habanero can now be found in menus around the world, and along with the demand, breeding has produced quite a nice variety including:
- Paper Lantern
- Peruvian White Habanero
- Jamaican Chocolate Habanero Peppers
- Yucatan White Habanero Peppers
- Scotch Bonnet Pepper
- Mustard Habanero
- Red Savina
- And many more.
Once crowned as the reigning king of hotness, it has since been dethrowned by the super habanero, ghost pepper. But don't let that fool you - one bite off these bad boys will have you panting and crying for some milk.
Cheers,
