I think that this plant is widely known all over the world. We call him Mother-and-Stepmother, or Tussilágo fárfara.
The thickets of this plant I photographed on the outskirts of the forest. It loves moist soil. I used to find huge wild plantations. Now, I meet him very rarely. This is one of the plants that displace other plant species.
As a child I collected these leaves, then I dried them and handed them over to the pharmacy. From dry leaves prepare medicines for coughing. If the lungs are going to sputum, as is often the case with asthmatics, this is a good remedy. So, this plant is medicinal.
I could not take a photograph of the flowering period this year. The flowers are yellow, they are very similar to dandelions. In the spring I will correct it.
The plant received its name for the property of its leaves. From above they are smooth, and the lower part of the fox is rough. One side is the mother, and the other side is the stepmother.
As you can see, these leaves are old. They are no longer suitable for anything. but when the leaves are young, they can be used for culinary purposes. It turns out delicious.
In this photo you see a national Moldovan dish, called cabbage rolls. This is boiled rice, minced meat, overcooked vegetables, which are wrapped in leaves and then stewed in sour cream and milk sauce. I really love this dish. Recipe, someday I will describe.
In the photo we used grape leaves, but, you can use the leaves of mother-and-stepmother, and cabbage leaves. Of the grape leaves are prepared and in the Caucasus, there is a dish called - dalma. From mother-and-stepmother, they cook, as I know, only in Moldova.
Leaves can be salted and used for a year.
