Let’s cook Oreo Cinnamon Rolls together!
Dough ingredients:
• Warm milk — 250 g (about 1 cup + 1 tbsp)
• Instant dry yeast — 6 g (about 2 tsp)
• Sugar — 80 g (about ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp)
• Pinch of salt
• Egg — 1 large
• Butter, softened — 80 g (about ⅓ cup)
• All-purpose flour — 530 g (about 4¼ cups)
Filling ingredients:
• Butter, melted — 60 g (about ¼ cup)
• Sugar — 4 tablespoons
• Ground cinnamon — ½ tablespoon (or 1½–2 teaspoons)
• Oreo cookies, finely crushed — 16 cookies
Cream cheese frosting ingredients:
• Butter, softened — 70 g (about 5 tablespoons)
• Powdered sugar — 3 tablespoons
• Cream cheese (or soft curd cheese) — 120 g (about ½ cup)
• Oreo cookies, finely crushed (for topping) — 4 cookies
Instructions:
Make the sponge: In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 tablespoon flour (taken from the total amount). Stir well and let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
Add the remaining sugar, egg, and pinch of salt to the sponge. Mix with a whisk until smooth.
Gradually add the flour and softened butter. Knead into a soft, elastic dough (about 5 minutes by hand or mixer). The dough should be soft and slightly tacky.
Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the filling: Mix melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, and finely crushed Oreo cookies until it forms a spreadable mixture.
Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a large rectangle (about 5–7 mm / ¼ inch thick).
Spread the Oreo-cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
Cut the log into equal pieces (12–15 rolls, depending on desired size).
Place the rolls in a greased baking dish with a little space between them.
Cover with a towel and let them rise again for 15–20 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
While the rolls are baking, make the frosting: Beat softened butter with powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add cream cheese and beat until smooth and creamy.
Let the baked rolls cool for a few minutes (warm but not hot), then spread generously with the cream cheese frosting.
Sprinkle the top with finely crushed Oreo cookies.
Enjoy your rich chocolatey Oreo cinnamon rolls!
