We love to cook one pan meals. We have the red Dutch Oven I show in my picture. If we need meat in the meal, we brown it first then add the veggies or pasta. Stock for soup or sauce (to cover the pasta and meat) if it is pasta based. Cook it all until it is done.
It isn’t the same as a crockpot. That you fill, turn on and leave it to cook slowly all day. The Dutch Oven bears watching on top of the stove. But it is quick, ten or twenty minutes (not counting prep time).
I will share a recent recipe. We had some leftover chicken that we stripped of the bones and shredded. Then we took carrots, cut up, and cooked them in the Dutch Oven in a couple tablespoons of olive oil. When they were slightly soft, we added in celery and power greens. When all that had cooked a few minutes, we added the chicken and 4 cups of chicken stock to make a soup.
As that was boiling we made some drop biscuits. They are called E Z drop biscuits, I believe from Martha Stewart. Google it, they have a half cup of butter in them and they are delicious.
