I’ve given you a brief explanation of Tteokbokki, and the first one I want to introduce is "Market Tteokbokki." It’s from Wolbae Market near my house, and this Tteokbokki is quite special. The reason is that they use a gochujang base but add soft ripe persimmons (Hongsi) for sweetness. It’s incredibly popular. It looks very red and spicy, but it’s actually a very sweet Tteokbokki. * * * 간단하게 떡볶이에 대해서 설명을 드렸는데 제가 처음으로 소개해드리고 싶은 떡볶이는 시장떡볶이에요. 집 근처에 있는 월배시장의 떡볶이인데 이 떡볶이는 조금 특별해요. 이유는 고추장 베이스에 달콤함을 홍시를 넣어 만들었거든요. 인기가 정말 많아요. 빨갛게 보여서 매울 것 같지만 아주 달콤한 떡볶이입니다.

The Tteokbokki I posted about a while ago was actually this Hongsi (soft ripe persimmon) Tteokbokki. * * * 얼마전에 올렸던 떡볶이가 바로 이 홍시 떡볶이였어요.

The second one is the Rose Tteokbokki from Shincheon Tteokbokki. The thick and creamy rose sauce was so delicious, and I had it with some spicy Gimbap. * * * 두번째는 신천떡볶이의 로제떡볶이에요. 꾸덕한 로제소스가 너무 맛있고 매콤한 김밥과 함께 먹었어요.

When eating Tteokbokki, deep-fried snacks (fried food) are something you can't leave out. They are so delicious when dipped in the sauce. Just imagine that crispy texture combined with the Tteokbokki sauce—it’s the absolute best taste. * * * 떡볶이 먹을 때 빠질 수 없는 것이 바로 튀김인데요. 소스에 찍어 먹으면 너무 맛있어요. 바삭한 식감과 떡볶이 소스의 조합을 상상해 보세요~~ 최고의 맛입니다.

It was a sweet Tteokbokki. I ordered it with deep-fried snacks and Gimbap, the classic Korean street food combo. I also had it with Coolpis, the drink that you absolutely must have with this meal. * * * 달콤한 떡볶이였어요. 튀김과 김밥, 전형적인 분식 음식으로 주문을 해서 먹었구요. 그리고 꼭 함께 먹어야 하는 음료인 쿨피스도 함께 먹었어요

Since there are so many different types of Tteokbokki in Korea, we often make various kinds ourselves at home. This is the Tteokbokki I made with my friends at home. It was even more delicious because we added Jjolmyeon (chewy noodles) instead of ramen noodles, and we also had it with boiled eggs and fried dumplings. Although it's not in the photo, we even mixed in some seaweed flakes and rice at the end. * * * 한국에는 아주 다양한 떡볶이가 있는 만큼 집에서도 정말 다양한 떡볶이를 직접 만들어 먹기도 해요. 이 떡볶이는 친구들과 집에서 직접 만든 떡볶이고요. 라면 사리가 아니라 쫄면 사리를 넣어서 더 맛있었고 계란도 삶고 만두도 구워서 함께 먹었어요. 사진에는 없지만 김가루와 밥까지 비벼서 먹었답니다.

This Tteokbokki is also homemade!!! This time, I made it with ramen noodles and served it with pan-fried "flat dumplings" (Nabjak-mandu), which are a specialty found only in Daegu. * * * 이번 떡볶이도 집에서 만든 떡볶이인데요!!! 이번에는 라면 사리를 넣어서 만들었고, 만두는 대구에만 있다는 납작만두를 구워서 함께 먹었어요.

This is the Yeopgi Tteokbokki that I've been enjoying lately. I've been eating the Rose flavor quite often. * * * 제가 요즘 즐겨 먹는 엽기떡볶이이고요. 로제 맛으로 자주 먹고 있어요.

This is a Tteokbokki without the rice cakes. You can choose to include or exclude the rice cakes, and I ordered it without them because I wanted to mix in some rice later. Instead, I just added udon noodles and quail eggs. It’s a "rice cake-less" Tteokbokki. * * * 이것은 떡이 없는 떡볶이에요. 떡은 빼고 넣고를 선택할 수 있는데, 저는 밥을 말아 먹으려고 떡을 빼고 우동 사리와 메추리알만 넣어서 주문을 했어요. 떡 없는 떡볶이입니다.

This is the Tonkatsu Tteokbokki from Shindaejang Tteokbokki!!! It’s a dish I really love. The tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) soaked in the Tteokbokki sauce is absolutely amazing. You should definitely try it. * * * 신대장떡볶이의 돈까스 떡볶이인데요!!! 정말 좋아하는 떡볶이에요. 떡볶이 국물에 푹 빠진 돈까스가 기가 막혀요. 꼭 드셔보세요.

This is "Pojangmacha" (street stall) Tteokbokki. It’s the kind sold as street food, and it’s truly delicious when eaten together with fish cake soup. This street food, in particular, makes you feel even happier when you eat it on a cold winter day. * * * 이것은 포장마차 떡볶이에요. 길거리 음식으로 파는 떡볶이인데 떡볶이와 국물 어묵을 함께 먹으면 정말 맛있어요. 특히 이 길거리 음식은 겨울에 추운 날 먹으면 더 행복합니다.

This might look like a very plain Tteokbokki with nothing but rice cakes, but it’s actually Shincheon Tteokbokki. It has a strong peppery kick that is incredibly addictive. You can make it even tastier by dipping fried snacks or Gimbap into this unique sauce. * * * 보기에는 엄청 재미없는, 떡만 있는 떡볶이인데요. 바로 신천떡볶이에요. 후추 맛이 강한데 중독성이 있는 떡볶이구요. 이 소스에 튀김이나 김밥을 찍어 먹으면 더 맛있게 즐길 수 있어요.

I ordered both Rose and spicy Tteokbokki to eat together. And you know it tastes even better with deep-fried snacks!! Eating the two flavors alternately keeps things exciting, so you can enjoy every last bite. * * * 로제와 매콤한 떡볶이를 함께 시켜서 먹었어요. 튀김도 함께 먹으면 더 맛있다는 거!! 다들 아시죠? 두 가지 맛을 번갈아 먹으면 질리지 않고 끝까지 맛있게 즐길 수 있어요.

Lastly, we have Cheese Tteokbokki and Cold Udon Salad. This combination is absolutely fantastic and so delicious! The Tteokbokki is loaded with plenty of smooth, melted cheese, while the Cold Udon Salad is refreshing and has a wonderful, springy noodle texture. Looking at the photo makes me want to eat it all over again. I could order it right now, but I’m going to hold back. I’ll wrap up my introduction to Korean Tteokbokki by looking forward to the delicious Bunmoja Rose Tteokbokki I have planned for tomorrow! * * * 마지막으로 치즈 떡볶이와 냉우동 샐러드예요. 정말 조합이 너무 좋고 맛있어요! 떡볶이는 치즈가 정말 많고 부드러우며, 냉우동 샐러드는 시원하면서도 탱탱한 우동의 식감 덕분에 정말 매력적이에요. 사진을 보니 또 먹고 싶어지네요. 지금 당장이라도 시킬 수 있지만 꾹 참아보려고요. 내일 먹을 맛있는 분모자 로제 떡볶이를 기약하며, 한국의 다양한 떡볶이 소개를 마치도록 할게요!
