한국의 3대불전 중 하나가 법주사 대웅전이라고 한다. 무량사 극락전, 화엄사 각황전, 법주사 대웅전이 3대불전이다. 모두 2층으로 된 전각들이다. 아마 규모를 중심으로 정한 듯 하다. 법주사 대웅전은 직접 가서 보면 큰 전각이란 생각이외의 다른 느낌을 받기는 어렵다. 그런데 대웅전은 건물 하나만을 의미하지는 않는다. 대웅전 앞에 서 있는 석등과 탑도 모두 하나로
