La gastronomía en el mundo es tan amplia, que si consigues encontrar que te divierta, como es mi caso, y te dejas llevar por la aventura de descubrir sabores e ir probando lugares diferente cuando tienes la oportunidad, no hay forma de que llegues a aburrirte. Hay miles de paltos que me encantaría probar y hay tanta variedad, en cada rincón de nuestra georgrafía, que a veces resulta dificil imaginarse recorriendo tantos lugares detrás de un plato de comida. Por suerte, el intercambio cultural que siempre ha acompañado a la humanidad, incluso debido a las circunstancias más difíciles, nos ha brindado la oportundiad de conocer variopintas cocinas sin tener que viajar tanto. Al final, hay que intentar quedarse con lo bueno de todo y, sinceramente, la comida es siempre una de esas cosas. Nicaragua, una tierra que desconozco y sin embargo evoco de vez en cuando tarareando esta canción: [La Vida Boheme - Nicaragua](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPz7XqQtwkA) Bueno que me distraigo. Tantos años viviendo en Zaragoza, pasando en frente de este local con el pegajoso nombre de *Valió la pena*, que te hace pensar inmediatamente en otra canción, la de Marc Anthony, aunque no seas fan, y no fue hasta que un amigo me dijo que teníamos que ir, porque la comida estaba muy buena, que al final decidí visitarlo. Hay lugares que, con tan solo entrar y ver lo carismáticas que son las encargadas de atenderte, sabes que la experiencia va a ser buena. Hay algo en el ambiente, en la seguridad con la que te hablan de los platos y el olor en el ambiente, que te garantiza que vas a salir contento. Así me sentí nada más entrar.

There are thousands of recipes that I would love to try and there is so much variety, in every corner of our geography, that sometimes it is difficult to imagine traveling through so many places chasing a plate of food. Fortunately, the cultural exchange that has always accompanied humanity, even under the most difficult circumstances, has given us the opportunity to get to know different cuisines without having to travel so much.
In the end, you have to try to keep the good things in everything and, honestly, food is always one of those things. Nicaragua, a land I don't know and yet I evoke from time to time humming this song: [La Vida Boheme - Nicaragua](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPz7XqQtwkA)
Well, I get distracted. So many years living in Zaragoza, passing in front of this place with the catchy name *Valió la pena*, that makes you immediately think of another song, the one by Marc Anthony, even if you are not a fan, and it wasn't until a friend told me that we had to go, because the food was really good, that I finally decided to visit it.
There are places that, just by walking in and seeing how charismatic the waitresses are, you know that the experience is going to be good. There is something in the atmosphere, in the confidence with which they talk to you about the dishes and the smell in the air, that guarantees that you are going to leave happy. That's how I felt as soon as I walked in.

Como desconocía en absoluto el tipo de comida de este país, pedí algo de tiempo no solo a las camareras, sino a mis amigos, para poder estudiar detalladamente el menú y bien preguntar o googlear algunas cosas. Es cierto que la gastronomía latinoamericana tiene muchos elementos en común, pero es interesante descubrir las diferentes formas de elaborar un mismo plato o de crear tantas versiones con los mismos elementos. Mientras me paseaba por el manú, habíamos ordenado ya las bebidas y tuve una pequeña desilución, se había quedado sin cervezas típicas de Nicaragua frías, así queue opté por una *refresco* natural de Maracuyá, mi fruta tropical favorita, con la condición de que al menos intentaran enfriar algunas cervezas para poder probarlas al menos antes deirnos. Lo genial de este local, es que, además de ser muy amplio, trabaja en horario corrido, desde la mañana hasta la hora del cierre tarde en la noche, así que no había muchaprisa, pues fuimos a comer a final de la tarde, 15:00 y ya casi no había gente, pero podiamos estar allí comiendo sin problemas. Por cierto, no era San Vlentín, no. Esto fue una visita posterior y la decoración simplemente era así. Espero volver pronto y comprobar si la mantienen o son temáticos con sus mesas. xD

>As I was completely unfamiliar with the type of food in this country, I asked not only the waitresses but also my friends for some time to study the menu in detail and ask questions or google some things. It is true that Latin American gastronomy has many elements in common, but it is interesting to discover the different ways of elaborating the same dish or creating so many versions with the same elements.
While I was going through the menu, we had already ordered the drinks and I had a little disappointment, they had run out of typical Nicaraguan cold beers, so I opted for a natural *refreshment* of passion fruit, my favorite tropical fruit, on the condition that they would at least try to cool some beers so we could try them at the very least before we left.
The great thing about this place, is that, besides being very spacious, it works in continuous hours, from morning until closing time late at night, so there wasn't much hustle and bustle, as we went to eat in the late afternoon, 15:00 and there were almost no people, but we could be there eating no problem at all.
By the way, it was not St. Valentine's Day, no. This was a later visit and the decor was just like that. I hope to go back soon and see if they keep it up or are themed with their tables.

Como yo estaba muy ensimismada en comprender algunas cosas antes de ordenar, el amigo que suele frecuentar este lugar, decidió pedir la primera entrada de inmediato, porque teniamos mucha hambre y solo yo parecía tener la paciencia para seguir esperando xD. Nos aconsejó que probaramos los tostones, muy parecidos a otroas versions latinas que habiamos probados, pero sin duda alguna, igual de buenos. No hay forma de que un tostón/patacón esté malo. Si ya solos son deliciosos, estos venían acompañados con un poco de todo, ensalada, queso frito, carne mechada y aguacate. Un bocado lleno de sabor. La base es usualmente platano macho sin madurar, frito en trozos, aplastado y vuelto a freir, esta doble cocción les confiere su caracteristica pricipal, que sean super crujientes.

>As I was very absorbed in understanding some things before ordering, the friend who usually frequents this place, decided to order the first starter right away, because we were very hungry and only I seemed to have the patience to keep waiting xD.
He advised us to try the tostones, very similar to other Latin versions we had tried, but without a doubt, just as good.
There is no way a tostón/patacón can be bad. If they are already delicious on their own, these came with a little bit of everything, salad, fried cheese, shredded meat and avocado. A bite full of flavor. The base is usually unripe plantains, fried in pieces, mashed and fried again, this double cooking gives them their main characteristic, they are super crunchy.

Lo primero que decidí fue que quería probar el tamal, pero no era el único plato que quería, así que mi amigo, advirtiéndome que era bastante grande, sugirió que lo eligiéramos como un entrante para compartir entre todos y que nadie se quedara sin probarlo, pues sin duda era una de las opciones mas típicas que no podíaos dejar pasar. Creo que la mayoría de los países sudamericanos cuentan con su propia versión del tamal, manteniendo algunas cosas en común, como la cocción envuelto en hojas de plátano y el fundamento de contener un guiso dentro de una masa, que puede ser maíz, arroz o yuca. Sin embargo, el sabor de la masa según se condimente, el contenido del guiso y el sabor que aporta la hoja según la región de la que provenga, afectan mucho el resultado, siendo cada tamal especial y diferente. Este particularmente, esta elaborado con una masa de harina de maíz y el relleno tenía trozos bastante grande de carne de cerdo y vegetales. Estaba acostumbrada a que los rellenos fuesen trozos un poco más pequeños, pero estos eran considerablemente grandes, incluso había medio tomate entero. También estaba acompañado de una tortilla a modo de pan, algo que no había visto hasta ahora, me pareció raro comerlo junto, pero eso no hizo que no lo intentara.

>The first thing I decided was that I wanted to try the tamale, but it was not the only dish I wanted, so my friend, warning me that it was quite big, suggested that we choose it as an entrée to share among all of us so that no one would be left without trying it, as it was certainly one of the most typical options that we could not pass up.
I believe that most South American countries have their own version of the tamale, keeping some things in common, such as the cooking wrapped in banana leaves and the basis of containing a stew inside a dough, which can be made of corn, rice or cassava. However, the flavor of the dough according to its seasoning, the content of the stew and the flavor that the leaf brings according to the region it comes from, greatly affect the result, being each tamale special and different.
This one in particular, is made with a corn flour dough and the filling had quite large chunks of pork and vegetables. I was used to the fillings being slightly smaller pieces, but these were considerably large, there was even half a whole tomato. It was also accompanied by a tortilla as a bread, something I hadn't seen until now, it seemed odd to eat it together, but that didn't stop me from trying it.

Luego comenzaron a llegar los platos principales. Mi amigo nos vendió la idea de que las costillas asadas eran su plato favorito, esencialmente porque estas venían sin ningún hueso y con mucha carne. Había que pedirlo entonces. Los platos se sirven cada uno con muchos acompañantes, nos preguntaron solamente si preferíamos que el arroz fuese blanco o gallopinto, que es una combinación de arroz con frijoles. Estas costillas estaban acompañadas de chips de plátano, queso fresco, aguacate, ensalada y una especie de vinagreta de tomate y cebolla. Las costillas estaban tan buenas como las había descrito nuestro amigo y, sinceramente, no me sorprendió que siempre repitiera el plato cada vez que él iba. Pero yo quería seguir probando cosas, así que me conformé con quitarle unos trozos de costilla a él.

>Then the main courses began to arrive. My friend sold us on the idea that the barbecued ribs were his favorite dish, essentially because they came with no bones and lots of meat. You had to order it then.
The dishes are each served with many sides, we were asked only if we preferred the rice to be white or gallopinto, which is a combination of rice with beans.
These ribs were accompanied by plantain chips, queso fresco, avocado, salad and some sort of tomato and onion vinaigrette.
The ribs were as good as our friend had described them and, honestly, I wasn't surprised that he always repeated the dish every time he went. But I wanted to keep tasting things, so I settled for taking a few pieces of rib off him.

El otro plato que pedimos, tenía como estrella la carne desmechada, un guiso muy bueno que no puede fallar. Se utiliza de tantas formas que lo normal es que no sorprenda que sea el relleno de otros platos (como crepas o empanadas). Esta versión, estaba muy bien asonada y jugosa. Me gustó que tenía una considerable cantidad de pimiento que le aportaba bastante sabor. Con este plato, sirvieron el plátano en forma de *tajadas* una versión diferente de comerlo que tiene tantos adeptos como haters. A mi me encanta y me encantó que lo sirvieran en este local Es básicamente freir el plátano macho muy maduro, hasta que quede dorado. El sabor es interesante porque es básicamente dulce y al freírlo queda un poco caramelizado. Es por este motivo que a muchas personas no les gusta, la mezcla de salado y dulce en un solo plato puede chocar al momento, pero este quedaba perfecto con el guiso de carne.

>The other dish we ordered was the star of the dish, the carne desmechada, a very good stew that can't fail. It is used in so many ways that it is not surprising that it is the filling for other dishes (such as crepes or empanadas).
This version was very well grilled and juicy. I liked that it had a considerable amount of bell bell pepper which added a lot of flavor.
With this dish, they served the plantain in the form of *tajadas* a different version of eating it that has as many followers as haters. I love it and I loved that they served it in this place.
It is basically frying the very ripe plantain until it is golden brown. The flavor is interesting because it is basically sweet and when fried it gets a little caramelized. This is the reason why many people don't like it, the mixture of salty and sweet in one dish can clash at the moment, but it was perfect with the meat stew.

Finalmente, mi plato. El que menos parecía interesar a mis amigos pero el que más ganas tenía de probar. A mí me gusta mucho pedir fuera cosas que no suelo comer en casa, este corte de carne, por llamarlo de alguna manera, tiene un proceso de elaboración laborioso, nunca me atrevería a hacerlo jajaja. Pero me recuerda mucho a platos de mi infancia, siempre parecía extraños al decirte lo que era, pero al probarlos solían gustarme. No me pasa lo de detestar texturas con la carne, mucho menos la suavidad de la que la gente suele quejarse al comer lengua. Si pensamos un poco, siempre estamos buscando que la carne, en general, este suave, así que a mi no me resulta para nada extraña. Lo diferente de mi acompañamiento eran los tostones. Nunca son demasiados tostones jajaja. La carne estaba exquisita, la salsa que la acompañaba, con muchos vegetales me encantó. Me hizo sentir tal cual, como si estuviese comiendo en casa en vez de en un restaurante y me hizo sentirme muy contenta con mi elección.

>Finally, my dish. The one that least seemed to interest my friends but the one I was most eager to try. I really like to order out things that I don't usually eat at home, this cut of meat, to call it somehow, has a laborious elaboration process, I would never dare to do it hahaha.
But it reminds me a lot of dishes from my childhood, it always seemed strange to tell you what it was, but when I tasted it I used to like it. I don't really dislike textures with meat, much less the softness that people often complain about when eating tongue. If we think about it a bit, we are always looking for meat, in general, to be soft, so I don't find it strange at all.
What was different about my side dish was the tostones. You can never have too many tostones hahaha. The meat was exquisite, the sauce that accompanied it, with lots of vegetables I loved it. It made me feel like I was eating at home instead of in a restaurant and made me feel very happy with my choice.

Al final la factura no llegó sola, cuando terminamos de comer, me avisaron que las cervezas se habían enfriado lo suficiente y no dude en pedir una para probar. Nos invitaron a quedarnos un rato más en el loca, pues estábamos bastante llenos como para irnos, y pude probar tranquilamente la cerveza nicaragüense que tanto quería. Ligera, super ligera como lo son las cervezas en el clima tropical, pero refrescante después de toda esa comilona. Al final decidimos tomar café allí mismo y quedarnos hablando largo rato, el local suele estar muy fresco por el aire acondicionado y la calle estaba ardiendo a esa hora de la tarde. Ah! nos dieron unos caramelos masticables de frutas que sirvieron de postre, porque sinceramente no teníamos espacio ya para comer nada más pesado. Fue una experiencia genial, me divertí, aprendí muchas cosas y sobre todo, me quedé con ganas de volver, porque hay muchas cosas aún que me quedaron por comer. Hasta entonces, ¡Buen provecho!

In the end we decided to have coffee right there and stay there talking for a long time, the place is usually very cool because of the air conditioning and the street was on fire at that time of the afternoon.
Ah! they gave us some chewy fruit candies to serve for dessert, because we honestly didn't have room to eat anything heavier.
It was a great experience, I had fun, I learned many things and above all, I wanted to come back, because there are many things I still had to eat. Until then, bon appetit!
