Hello to all anime fans, I hope you are great today... this time I want to share with you all a new review of the anime: The God of High School, an anime that at first glance promises many things... as it can be perceived as a series full of energy and action. When I started watching it I was really attracted by its aesthetics and trailers, it is a series that has martial arts, some supernatural elements, and a wild tournament in which the responses are very high. From the very first moment, if you're watching this anime, you know you're about to witness a visual spectacle... but I personally, when I finished watching this series, I felt that the fights were great, although I didn't feel like I had a complete experience.
First I'll tell you a little about the pacing, this adaptation covered more than 100 chapters of the manhwa in only 13 episodes.. and that's where you notice the first big problem of this anime.. trying to cram so much content in very little time.. this makes the development of the characters not quite good, as surely many of you, who have already seen this anime might have felt that you didn't end up connecting with the characters, like me. Events that should have had a lot of impact feel rushed.. and crucial story arcs are ignored or completely changed, as a result, I felt like something important was missing that I wasn't being told.. it's like you're reading a summary of a big story and it's been given to you in small parts, and you really feel like you're not getting immersed in the whole story...
The fight scenes, of course, are the strong point of this anime.. if you watch it for the action, you obviously won't be disappointed at all, the animation quality during the battles is phenomenal.. and the impact of every punch, kick or supernatural attack feels really strong, all these battles are beautifully choreographed with fluid movements and great visuals... There is an intensity to each battle that makes you feel the weight of each blow, something many anime struggle to achieve, to convey that action and strength.... The use of bright colors and some dramatic camera angles add to the show's very unique feel, giving some visually stunning moments that many of you will no doubt enjoy. >Hola a todos fanáticos del anime, espero que se encuentren genial en el día de hoy.. en esta ocasión quiero compartir con todos ustedes una nueva reseña del anime: The God of High School, un anime que a primera vista promete muchas cosas.. ya que puede percibirse como una serie llena de energía y acción. Yo cuando lo comencé a ver realmente resulté atraído por su estética y sus trailers, es una serie que tiene artes marciales, algunos elementos sobrenaturales, y un torneo salvaje en el que las respuestas son altísimas. Desde el primer momento, si estás viendo este anime, sabes que estás a punto de presenciar un espectáculo visual.. pero yo personalmente, cuando terminé de ver esta serie, sentí que las peleas estuvieron geniales, aunque no sentí que tuve una experiencia ya completa..
Primero les hablaré un poco del ritmo, esta adaptación cubrió más de 100 capítulos del manhwa en solo 13 episodios.. y ahí es donde se nota el primer gran problema de este anime.. tratar de meter tanto contenido en muy poco tiempo.. esto hace que el desarrollo de los personajes no sea del todo bueno, ya que seguramente muchos de ustedes, que ya hayan visto este anime pudieron sentir que no terminaron de conectar con los personajes, como yo. Los eventos que deberían haber tenido mucho impacto se sienten apresurados.. y los arcos cruciales de la historia son ignorados o completamente cambiados, como resultado, yo sentí que faltaba algo importante que no me estaban contando.. es como si estuvieras leyendo un resumen de una gran historia y que te la hayan dado en pequeñas partes, y realmente sientas que no te estás sumergiendo en la historia completa..
Las escenas de pelea, por supuesto, son el punto fuerte de este anime.. si lo ves por la acción, obviamente no te vas a decepcionar para nada, la calidad de animación durante las batallas es fenomenal.. y el impacto de cada golpe, patada o ataque sobrenatural se siente realmente fuerte, todas estas batallas están bellamente coreografiadas con movimientos fluidos y unos visuales muy buenos.. Hay una intensidad en cada batalla que te hace sentir el peso de cada golpe, algo con lo que muchos animes luchan por lograr, por transmitir esa acción y esa fuerza.. Obviously, the fights and the hits are exciting to watch, but certainly the backstory that many characters should have is not well perceived.. it's hard to really feel concerned about the outcome of some of these fights, you don't spend enough time with most of the fighters to really care about them, beyond seeing if their moves are going to be more or less spectacular...
Another glaring problem with this adaptation is some of the changes to the story...I've been doing some research after I finished watching this anime, and I realized that some key plot points were altered in a way that didn't really end up tying into the story. I feel like a lot of details were completely left out, for example, there is a big difference in how the anime handles Mori's story compared to the original material.. in the anime they make his grandfather's disappearance seem like a big mystery from the beginning, but in the original material, Mori knows exactly where his grandfather is, and even visits him.... This is an example of how the anime took certain unnecessary liberties that undoubtedly frustrated more than one fan of the story, and I totally understand. >Pero, a pesar de que las peleas son de lo mejor, también son un arma de doble filo, ya que, al ser la historia tan apresurada, las apuestas emocionales en las batallas no son tan altas como podrían haber sido.. Obviamente, los combates y los golpes son emocionantes de ver, pero sin duda el trasfondo que deberían tener muchos personajes no se percibe bien.. es difícil sentirte realmente preocupado por el resultado de algunos de estos enfrentamientos, no pasas suficiente tiempo con la mayoría de los luchadores como para realmente preocuparte por ellos, más allá de ver si sus movimientos van a ser más o menos espectaculares..
Otro de los problemas más evidentes en esta adaptación son algunos cambios en la historia.. he estado investigando luego de terminar de ver este anime, y me di cuenta que algunos puntos clave de la trama fueron alterados de manera que realmente no se terminaron de unir a la historia. Siento que muchos detalles fueron completamente omitidos, por ejemplo, hay una gran diferencia en cómo el anime maneja la historia de Mori en comparación con el material original.. en el anime hacen que la desaparición de su abuelo parezca un gran misterio desde el principio, pero en el material original, Mori sabe exactamente dónde está su abuelo, e incluso lo visita.. One minute the characters are fighting hand-to-hand, all very realistic as far as it goes, and the next they're wielding powers capable of destroying entire cities without warning.... It doesn't carry the same weight when it happens suddenly and without a proper and detailed explanation, it can be very disconcerting....
I saw that many people to whom I recommended this anime thought it would be entirely melee fights, interesting fights that had nothing to do with magic, and then suddenly there were powers that had nothing to do with it.... But despite these flaws there is something undeniably fun about this story, it has all this chaotic energy that keeps you watching even when you are aware of its shortcomings, it's a kind of series you can put on when you feel like watching pure action without needing to think much about what the characters are going through...
Another thing, the tournament format keeps things moving at an interesting pace, even if this is detrimental to the story, this allows for almost never dull moments, there is always another fight, another powerful opponent to face, and the stakes keep getting higher and higher.. the character designs and animation style is also something I really liked, each fighter has a distinctive look and you can tell a lot of care was put into making them look visually appealing even if they don't get the development they deserve.... The animation studio did an excellent job here, it's easy to see why the series was so highly publicized before its release, every scene especially the battles are full of energy and colors that make you stare at them mesmerized.... >Otro cambio que vale la pena señalar es cómo se introducen los poderes y habilidades de los personajes.. en el material original hay una progresión mucho más gradual y creíble de las artes marciales normales a los poderes divinos, algunas veces exagerados, pero el anime apresura toda esta transición tan rápido que se siente desconcertante. Un minuto los personajes están peleando cuerpo a cuerpo, todo muy realista dentro de lo que cabe, y al siguiente están manejando poderes capaces de destruir ciudades enteras sin previo aviso.. No tiene el mismo peso cuando sucede repentinamente y sin una explicación adecuada y detallada, puede ser muy desconcertante...
Vi que muchas personas a las cuales le recomendé este anime pensaron que serían enteramente luchas de cuerpo a cuerpo, luchas interesantes que no tenían que ver con magia, y de repente salieron unos poderes que no tenían nada que ver.. Pero a pesar de estos fallos hay algo innegablemente divertido en esta historia, tiene toda esta energía caótica que te mantiene mirando incluso cuando eres consciente de sus deficiencias, es un tipo de serie que te puedes poner cuando tienes ganas de ver pura acción sin necesidad de pensar mucho en lo que están pasando los personajes..
Otra cosa, el formato de torneo mantiene las cosas en movimiento a un ritmo interesante, aunque esto sea perjudicial para la historia, esto permite que casi nunca haya momentos aburridos, siempre hay otra pelea, otro oponente poderoso al que hay que enfrentarse, y las apuestas siguen aumentando y aumentando.. los diseños de personajes y el estilo de animación también es algo que me gustó mucho, cada luchador tiene un aspecto distintivo y se nota que se puso mucho cuidado en hacer que se vean visualmente atractivos, incluso si no reciben el desarrollo que merecen.. Although I'm not a person who reads manhwa, I was totally immersed in these stories.. i think if they were included, they could have added a lot of depth to the series.. in this anime, they just feel like filler fighters, who are just there to take up space in the tournament box and to take or deliver blows, it's a shame, because some of these characters, without a doubt, are very good and I feel they could shine in a possible continuation of the series.. Overall, for me, this series, while entertaining, I feel it could have been so much more, it's a visually stunning anime, with some of the best fight scenes you'll see, but it has a somewhat rushed pace and lack of character development holds it back from being something really great....
I don't know if maybe I'm being too picky in this regard, but it's something I really appreciate about the stories I watch.. it shouldn't all be mindless fighting and action. I feel like if they hadn't omitted so much from the story and taken the time to expand the amount of episodes a lot more, the result would have been spectacular. If any of you are looking for a fun, fast paced, action packed anime, well this anime is the perfect choice for you, so give it a watch. I give it a rating of 7/10... it's entertaining, but I was left with the feeling that it could have been a lot cooler. See you in the next reviews, I'll leave the opening down here. Take care, bye bye. >Otra cosa que no me terminó de convencer es la falta de profundidad con la cual se manejan los personajes secundarios.. en el material de origen, muchos de estos personajes tienen historias realmente profundas e interesantes. Aunque no soy una persona que lea manhwa, quedé totalmente inmerso en estas historias.. creo que si las fueran incluido, podrían haber añadido mucha profundidad a la serie.. en este anime, solo se sienten como luchadores de relleno, que están ahí solo para ocupar espacio en el cuadro de torneo y para recibir o dar golpes, es una pena, porque algunos de estos personajes, sin duda, son muy buenos y siento que podrían brillar en una posible continuación de la serie.. En general, para mí, esta serie, si bien fue entretenida, siento que pudo haber sido mucho más, es un anime visualmente impactante, con algunas de las mejores escenas de pelea que verás, pero tiene un ritmo algo apresurado y la falta de desarrollo de personajes lo frena de ser algo realmente grandioso..
No sé si tal vez yo esté demasiado quisquilloso en este aspecto, pero es algo que realmente aprecio de las historias que veo.. no todo debería ser peleas y acción sin sentido. Siento que si no fueran omitido tantas cosas de la historia y se fueran tomado el tiempo de expander mucho más la cantidad de episodios, el resultado fuera sido espectacular. Si alguno de ustedes está buscando un anime divertido, rápido y lleno de acción, pues este anime es la opción perfecta para ustedes, así que denle un vistazo.
