I consider myself someone with a pretty high suspension of disbelief, I usually have no problems to enjoy something beyond if it's fulfilling to entertain me or I'm liking the story, in that sense I fall quite in subjectivism and live things my way, that's why I usually do not pay attention to criticism of anything, and I think that in recent days no game has been more criticized than Forspoken, the latest game from Square Enix, of which there is no day that I don't see something when I enter Twitter, the truth is that I had long wanted to try it because since long ago I saw one of the first trailers and caught my attention for how fluid and dynamic the game looks, Frey, the protagonist, can do a kind of "Magic Parkour" with which to move at full speed around the map. Two days ago came out a demo for PC, and I found out about it yesterday so I didn't waste time and downloaded it on Steam, I played for an hour and 15 minutes, and I wanted to share my impressions based on this [limited] experience, which I also tell you, the demo's size is 42 gb installed, it could be a little lighter for what it lasts. The demo makes you skip many things at the beginning of the game, there is an intro that summarizes the main plot, how Frey got a cheap isekai and ended up in an unknown world with a bracelet that besides having magic, is quite talkative, it is partly because of the dialogues between Frey and Cuff (the bracelet) that the game has been criticized a lot, and I can understand it, it could be said that the dialogues are too "Marvel", in allusion to what we are used to in the cinematic universe of the comic book company, but for this part I can't say much because the demo has no dialogues other than the dynamic ones that occur during combat or exploration sections. >I'm not a fan of this UI, I must say. As soon as you start the playable part of the demo you are offered a tutorial to explain basic notions, and the first thing they emphasize, as I said, is the magical parkour, the most colorful part of the game and what caught my attention at the time, Frey has some charges that you consume as you go doing parkour, also recharged over time, it is more than anything so you do not do parkour infinitely. After this you move on to combat, Frey has two groups of enchantments that you can change by pressing Q+E at the same time and selecting on the wheel the group you want to change, one is based on short range attacks and fire element, and the other on ranged attacks with rocks, you can also use a kind of shield that also does a little extra damage when you stop using it, so there are plenty of options, I feel that I did not get to exploit the combat as much as I should, and this, at least at the demo level, I don't like it. I want to believe that this is different in the full game and here is a consequence of the fact that you are inserted in the middle of the game with half the skill tree completed, but no matter how many options the game has when attacking, it's not necessary to use them all, even if there is a system of strengths and weaknesses, where some attacks are more effective than others depending on the type of enemy, you could spam the attack that is not effective and still finish the enemy quickly, the fights don't last at all, and it's a topic that I will talk more about at the end, let's move on to what you can do in the demo. After leaving the tutorial you have a section of the map with several points of interest already marked, the idea is that you go to these and complete the quests they ask you to do, as in the typical open world that really isn't open because you just have to go from A to B over and over again, except for a castle in a specific place on the map, I didn't see anything else that caught my attention and made me deviate. During my exploration I found a couple of towers that function as fast travel points, as well as two "statues", shall I say, that when interacting with them gave you magic and strength upgrades, there was a third one that worked to trigger a flashback in which you had to eliminate an enemy within the time limit, it was here where I thought, "finally an enemy in conditions", because they gave me 10 minutes to finish the fight, once I started it, I only needed 1 minute of the 10, it was an enemy stronger than the rest, but something that would not take you 10 minutes even if you were playing with a Dance Dance Revolution dance mat. After doing all this, which corresponds to the demo's missions, you are given an additional task, which is to eliminate the boss I mentioned before, and it's the most Monster Hunter thing the whole demo has, as the boss literally looks like a monster taken from Monster Hunter, but unfortunately this is executed somewhat loosely, it's a fight that lasts you nothing, once again, a boss that you easily defeat in less than a minute and a half. I can understand that we are talking about a game with a very fast pace and it's not the intention to have you 20 minutes fighting against a damage sponge, but I feel that the fight was like fighting against any other enemy only with a bigger life bar, it had nothing that made me feel that danger or extra tension that a boss should have by default. In short, Forspoken has good ideas but they are poorly executed, OR AT LEAST, that's what I can interpret based on the brief demo I was able to try, which by the way, as soon as you finish with that "boss" you get the "thanks for playing" screen and that was it. Moving on to the technical part, the optimization is unfortunately lousy, the game is visually attractive but nothing at the level of what would be expected of an exclusively next-gen game, apart from that, I recommend that if you want to try it install the demo on an SSD, because otherwise the performance drops quite a lot and the loading screens become minutes depending on the case, which I repeat, for how long the demo lasts, what it weighs, and how it looks, it seems to me a very serious optimization failure. If they fix the latter, Forspoken is a game I would like to try, but with the price it has, not even for free, thank you very much for reading.

Me considero alguien con una suspensión de la incredulidad bastante elevada, no suelo tener problemas para disfrutar algo más allá de si está cumpliendo con entretenerme o gustándome la historia, en ese sentido caigo bastante en subjetivismos y vivo las cosas a mi manera, es por eso que no suelo hacer caso a críticas de nada, y creo que en los días recientes ningún juego ha sido más criticado que Forspoken, el último juego de Square Enix, del cual no hay día que no vea algo cuando entro a Twitter, la verdad es que tenía tiempo queriendo probarlo pues desde hace tiempo que vi uno de sus primeros trailers me llamó la atención por lo fluido y dinámico que se ve el juego, Frey, la protagonista, puede hacer una especie de “Parkour mágico” con el cual moverse a toda velocidad por el mapa. Ayer salió una demo para PC, y me enteré hace unas pocas horas así que no perdí el tiempo y puse a descargarla en Steam, jugué durante una hora y 15 minutos que me duró la demo, y quería compartirles mis impresiones en base a esta [limitada] experiencia, que también te digo, la demo pesa 42 gb instalada, podía ser un poquito más ligera para lo que dura. La demo te hace saltarte muchas cosas del inicio del juego, hay una intro que te resume al vuelo la trama principal, de como a Frey le pasó la de un isekai barato y terminó en un mundo desconocido con un brazalete que además de tener magia, es bastante parlanchín, es en parte por los diálogos entre Frey y Cepo (el brazalete) que se ha criticado bastante al juego, y puedo entenderlo, se podría decir que son diálogos demasiado “Marvel”, en alusión a lo que nos ha acostumbrado en universo cinematográfico de dicha compañía de comics, pero por esta parte no puedo opinar mucho pues la demo no tiene diálogos que no sean los dinámicos que ocurren durante los combates o secciones de exploración. >No soy muy fan de la interfaz, debo decir. Apenas empezar la parte jugable de la demo te ofrecen un tutorial para explicarte nociones básicas, y lo primero en lo que hacen énfasis, como dije, es en el parkour mágico, la parte más vistosa del juego y lo que me llamó la atención en su momento, Frey tiene unas cargas que vas consumiendo conforme vas haciendo parkour, igualmente se recargan con el tiempo, es más que nada para que no hagas parkour infinitamente. Luego de esto pasas al combate, Frey tiene dos grupos de encantamientos que puedes cambiar presionando Q+E a la vez y seleccionando en la rueda el grupo al que quieras cambiar, uno se basa en ataques de corto alcance y elemento fuego, y el otro en ataques a distancia con rocas, al igual que puedes utilizar una especie de escudo que además hace un poco de daño extra cuando lo dejas de utilizar, por lo que opciones, hay bastantes, siento que no llegué a explotar el combate todo lo que debería, y esto, al menos a nivel de la demo, no me gusta. Quiero creer que esto en el juego completo es diferente y acá es consecuencia de que te insertan a mitad del juego con medio árbol de habilidades lleno, pero por muchas opciones que tenga el juego al momento de atacar, no es necesario que las utilices todas, incluso habiendo un sistema de fortalezas y debilidades, donde unos ataques son más efectivos que otros según el tipo de enemigo, podrías spamear el ataque que no es efectivo y aún así acabarías rápido con el enemigo, los combates no duran nada, y es un tema en el que hablaré más al final, pasemos a lo que puedes hacer en la demo. Luego de salir del tutorial tienes una sección del mapa con varios puntos de interés ya marcados, la idea es que vayas a estos y completes las misiones que te piden, como en el típico mundo abierto que realmente no es abierto porque solo tienes que ir de A a B una y otra vez, a excepción de un castillo en un lugar específico del mapa, no vi nada más que llamara mi atención y me hiciera desviarme. Durante mi exploración encontré un par de torres que funcionan como puntos de viaje rápido, así como dos “estatuas”, ¿podría decir?, que al interactuar con ellas te daban mejoras de magia y fuerza, había una tercera que funcionaba para desencadenar un flashback en el cual debías eliminar a un enemigo dentro del tiempo límite, fue aquí donde pensé, finalmente un enemigo en condiciones, pues me daban 10 minutos para acabar la pelea, una vez la empecé, solo necesité 1 minuto de los 10, era un enemigo más fuerte que el resto, pero algo que no te llevaría 10 minutos ni que jugaras con una alfombra de Dance Dance Revolution. Luego de hacer todo esto, que corresponde a las misiones de la demo, te dan un encargo adicional, que es eliminar al jefe que les mencioné antes, y es la cosa más Monster Hunter que tiene toda la demo, pues el jefe parece literalmente un monstruo sacado de Monster Hunter, pero lamentablemente esto está ejecutado de forma un tanto floja, es una pelea que no te dura nada, una vez más, un jefe que fácilmente derrotas en menos de minuto y medio. Puedo entender que hablamos de un juego con un ritmo muy rápido y no es la intención tenerte 20 minutos peleando contra una esponja de daño, pero siento que la pelea era como pelear contra cualquier otro enemigo solo que con una barra de vida más grande, no tenía nada que me hiciera sentir ese peligro o tensión adicional que debería tener por defecto un jefe. En síntesis, Forspoken tiene buenas ideas pero están mal ejecutadas, O AL MENOS, eso es lo que puedo interpretar yo en base a la breve demo que pude probar, que por cierto, apenas terminas con ese “jefe” te salta la pantalla de “gracias por jugar” y eso fue todo. Pasando a la parte técnica, la optimización es lamentablemente pésima, el juego es atractivo visualmente pero nada a nivel de lo que se esperaría de un juego exclusivamente next-gen, aparte de eso, recomiendo que si lo desean probar instalen la demo en un SSD, porque de otra forma el rendimiento decae bastante y las pantallas de carga se vuelven de minutos según el caso, cosa que repito, para lo que dura la demo, lo que pesa, y como se ve, me parece un fallo gravísimo de optimización. Si arreglan esto último, Forspoken es un juego que me gustaría probar, pero con el precio que tiene, ni regalado, muchas gracias por leer.
