* * * * * * ¿Qué es eso del “riesgo país”? ------------------------------ En sencillo: el riesgo país es el “termómetro de confianza” que usan los mercados para medir qué tan peligroso es prestarle dinero a un país. Mientras más alto es ese número, más caro es endeudarse y más desconfianza hay sobre el futuro económico y político. Durante años, Venezuela ha tenido uno de los riesgos país más altos del planeta… y eso no es casualidad: crisis prolongada, default, sanciones, conflicto político y una economía que se fue encogiendo a punta de golpes. * * *

* * * Lo que ha pasado en los últimos meses ------------------------------------- En los meses recientes, algo empezó a cambiar en los gráficos: el riesgo país de Venezuela ha venido cayendo con fuerza. Pasó de niveles “fuera de escala” a cifras que siguen siendo muy altas, pero bastante menores que las de finales de 2025. En términos simples: el mundo financiero dejó de ver a Venezuela solo como fuego puro, y empezó a verla como un incendio todavía activo… pero ya no imposible de apagar. 🔥➡️🔥🧯 No es una “historia de éxito”, pero sí un giro interesante en una narrativa que llevaba años siendo solo negativa. * * * ¿Por qué está bajando el riesgo país? ------------------------------------- No es magia ni milagro. Hay varios factores que se combinan: * Cambios políticos recientes que abren una ventana de expectativas distintas. * Más conversación sobre posibles acuerdos de deuda y reestructuración. * Fondos de inversión que huelen oportunidades cuando un país toca fondo y sus bonos están por el piso. * Ajustes “técnicos” del mercado, que recalibra precios después de años de castigo extremo. Importante: lo que está bajando, sobre todo, es la **percepción** de riesgo extremo, no necesariamente la realidad profunda del país. El termómetro marca menos fiebre, pero el paciente sigue delicado. * * * Los números mejoran… pero seguimos en el podio del riesgo. 😅 ------------------------------------------------------------- Aunque el indicador ha caído de forma notable, Venezuela sigue siendo el país más riesgoso de América Latina por un margen enorme. Es como pasar de estar en terapia intensiva a seguir en el hospital, pero ya sin todos los aparatos conectados. En comparación con otros países de la región, Venezuela sigue estando varias veces por encima en términos de riesgo. Eso significa que, a los ojos de los inversionistas, prestarle dinero al país sigue siendo una apuesta muy, muy arriesgada. * * * Lo bueno: señales para un optimismo cauteloso ✨ ----------------------------------------------- Dentro de todo, sí hay motivos para un optimismo realista: * La caída del riesgo país ha sido rápida, algo que hace unos años parecía impensable. * El cambio de clima político, aunque frágil, abre la puerta a conversaciones que antes ni siquiera estaban en la mesa. * Algunos inversionistas especializados ya están viendo a Venezuela como una apuesta de alto riesgo, pero con potencial de ganancia si el país logra ordenar mínimamente la casa. Dicho de otro modo: el gráfico mejoró, pero la vida del ciudadano de a pie no cambia solo porque el indicador EMBI se movió unos miles de puntos. La calle todavía cuenta otra historia. * * * ¿Qué falta por hacer? --------------------- Para que la mejora del riesgo país sea algo más que un _rebote técnico_, hace falta avanzar en cosas concretas: * Un camino claro y creíble para reestructurar la deuda. * Reglas de juego más estables y transparentes para quien quiera invertir. * Instituciones que funcionen de verdad, no solo en el papel. * Una economía que piense más allá del corto plazo y del _“resolver como se pueda”_. Y, sobre todo, algo que no se compra en los mercados: **_recuperar confianza_**. La confianza de afuera, pero también la de adentro, la de los mismos venezolanos que se han acostumbrado a esperar lo peor. * * * Entre el catastrofismo y el triunfalismo ---------------------------------------- En este punto, caer en extremos es fácil: * El catastrofismo dice: “Nada ha cambiado, todo está igual o peor”. * El triunfalismo dice: “Se arregló todo; ahora sí viene la ola de inversiones”. Ninguno de los dos cuentos ayuda. La realidad es más incómoda, pero también más honesta: **hay señales de mejora en cómo nos ve el mundo financiero, pero el país sigue enfrentando problemas gigantescos**. Se puede celebrar que dejamos de estar en el sótano absoluto del mapa, sin vender la idea de que ya estamos en la planta alta del edificio. Es un pequeño escalón, no la cima. * * * Un optimismo con los pies en la tierra 🏃‍♀️🇻🇪 ------------------------------------------------ El cambio en el riesgo país es una buena noticia, sí. Muestra que el mundo empieza a abrir un poco la puerta, después de años de verla cerrada con doble candado. Pero el verdadero reto está en lo que no se ve en los gráficos: Que la gente pueda vivir mejor, trabajar sin miedo, invertir sin sentir que todo puede cambiar de la noche a la mañana. Si algo nos ha enseñado la historia reciente de Venezuela es que los números pueden subir y bajar, pero reconstruir un país es una maratón, no un **sprint**. And, above all, something that can't be bought in the markets: restoring confidence. Confidence from abroad, but also from within, the confidence of Venezuelans themselves who have become accustomed to expecting the worst. * * * Between Catastrophism and Triumphalism -------------------------------------- At this point, it's easy to fall into extremes: * Catastrophism says: “Nothing has changed; everything is the same or worse.” * Triumphalism says: “Everything is fixed; now the wave of investment is finally coming.” Neither narrative helps. The reality is more uncomfortable but also more honest: **there are signs of improvement in how the financial world views us, but the country continues to face enormous problems**. We can celebrate that we're no longer at the absolute bottom of the map or list without selling the idea that we're already on the top floor.
