Hyphae Events

A few years ago I was organizing the first Hyphae events. This were events where several groups came together all over the world, to share their music and audiovisuals arts in live performances and digital downloads.
These events were special because we were organizing live shows around the world in different time zones. The events were a combination of digital and physical meetup spaces.
During a Hyphae event we would switch from one country to the other. The locations varied from studios, living rooms to clubs. A bit like Boiler room, but without the annoying Hipsters in front of the camera and much more different locations on one night.

The mix of spaces were interesting, it created a funny atmosphere to have for example a living room in the morning time in a club at night time and visa versa, we were playing with this perception of mixing space and the effects of different timezones.
Besides live music, most of the time the artists would also have a visual component to their show.

See below one of my favorite shows we did. It was a show by Jacob 2-2, doing live music and video at the same time.This was during Hyphae II, we had people gathering in New York, Netherlands, Berlin, Sweden, Iceland and Poland.

Hyphae are parts from Mycelieum networks, that are created by funghi. It's like a mushroom internet :).
