Saludos querida comunidad de #GEMS Hoy, en este Domingo de Ramos, no pude evitar que mi mente y mi corazón viajaran directamente a mi tierra, a ese lugar donde la fe, el mar y los recuerdos se entrelazan de una manera tan especial que es imposible no sentirlo. Porque hay tradiciones que no se olvidan, que se quedan sembradas en el alma sin importar la distancia ni los años que pasen. A veces basta una fecha, un momento, una simple sensación, para que todo vuelva. Para que regresen los olores, los sonidos, las imágenes, y con ellos, esos pedacitos de vida que nos marcaron para siempre. Y aunque hoy me encuentro lejos de mi país, viviendo otra realidad, hay instantes como este que me hacen detenerme, respirar profundo y volver a sentir, como si nunca me hubiese ido. Por eso hoy quiero compartir contigo algo muy personal, un recuerdo que no solo forma parte de mi historia, sino también de mi identidad. Allí vive gente muy acogedora, muy amable, siempre en pro de ayudar al prójimo, con ese calor humano que nos caracteriza tanto a los venezolanos. Es una ciudad que no solo se vive, se siente. Y cuando se acercaba la Semana Santa, o como también le decíamos, la Semana Mayor, desde muy chicos ya sabíamos que algo especial venía en camino. Se respiraba en el ambiente, en las calles, en las conversaciones, una mezcla de fe, tradición y alegría que nos llenaba el corazón. No importaba la situación, no importaban las limitaciones, el venezolano tiene algo muy especial, no necesita grandes lujos para ser feliz. Con una cava sencilla, pan con mortadela o con diablito, ese jamón molido con salsa rosada que nunca faltaba y un buen jugo de naranja, ya teníamos todo lo necesario para vivir un día perfecto. Papá y mamá nos llevaban temprano a la playa, y desde ese momento hasta que caía la tarde, el tiempo simplemente no existía. Era sol, era arena, era mar… era reír, compartir, ver a otras familias haciendo lo mismo, sentir ese ambiente tan sano, tan nuestro, acompañado muchas veces por actividades organizadas que llenaban de vida cada rincón. El punto de encuentro era y sigue siendo el malecón de Puerto Cabello, ese lugar que reúne a todo un pueblo. Allí se armaba la verdadera fiesta: una tarima inmensa, luces, música, artistas nacionales e internacionales que hacían vibrar a todos los presentes. Eran días donde había que tener las pilas bien cargadas para disfrutar jornada tras jornada, porque cada noche tenía su magia. Sin embargo, dentro de toda esa alegría, nunca se perdía el verdadero sentido de la Semana Santa, porque en cada rincón también estaban las iglesias, las misas, el viacrucis, las representaciones de la crucifixión de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Era ese equilibrio perfecto entre la celebración y la fe, algo que siempre he admirado de mi tierra. Luego de asistir a la misa donde bendicen las palmas, nos trasladamos al malecón, donde el obispo celebra una misa diferente, única, frente a una multitud que se reúne con devoción. El obispo está en una barcaza en el mar, rodeado de lanchas llenas de personas, mientras el mar, casi siempre agitado, acompaña la escena. Pero hay un instante que nunca se me olvida, cuando levanta el pan y el cáliz, y luego el Santísimo, en ese momento suenan las sirenas de todas las embarcaciones, y de manera inexplicable, esas aguas turbias se calman, se quedan quietas por un instante, como si todo se detuviera. La brisa del norte nos toca, y allí, en ese silencio lleno de fe, pedimos por nuestras familias, por los que están y por los que ya no, es una renovación que llega al alma, al cuerpo y a la mente. It didn’t matter the situation, it didn’t matter the limitations, Venezuelans have something very special, we don’t need great luxuries to be happy. With a simple cooler, bread with mortadella or with diablito, that ground ham with pink sauce that was never missing, and a good orange juice, we already had everything we needed to live a perfect day. Mom and dad would take us early to the beach, and from that moment until the afternoon fell, time simply didn’t exist. It was sun, it was sand, it was sea… it was laughing, sharing, seeing other families doing the same, feeling that healthy, so ours environment, often accompanied by organized activities that filled every corner with life. The meeting point was and still is the Puerto Cabello boardwalk, that place that brings together an entire town. That’s where the real party took place: a huge stage, lights, music, national and international artists that made everyone present vibrate. Those were days when you had to have your energy fully charged to enjoy day after day, because each night had its own magic. However, within all that joy, the true meaning of Holy Week was never lost, because in every corner there were also churches, masses, the Stations of the Cross, the reenactments of the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was that perfect balance between celebration and faith, something I have always admired about my land. After attending mass where the palms are blessed, we move to the boardwalk, where the bishop celebrates a different, unique mass, in front of a crowd that gathers with devotion. The bishop is on a barge in the sea, surrounded by boats full of people, while the sea, almost always rough, accompanies the scene. But there is a moment I will never forget, when he raises the bread and the chalice, and then the Blessed Sacrament, at that moment all the sirens of the boats sound, and in an inexplicable way, those murky waters calm down, they remain still for a moment, as if everything stopped. The northern breeze touches us, and there, in that silence full of faith, we pray for our families, for those who are here and for those who are no longer, it is a renewal that reaches the soul, the body, and the mind.
