Cuando escribí mi post de presentación en la comunidad de Aliento, hablé de los problemas económicos y de salud que enfrentaba al escribir en un país como Venezuela. Pero, en realidad, no hablé de lo más importante: ¿sobre qué me gusta escribir?

Como autor, he tenido una trayectoria peculiar. Nunca me he limitado a un solo nicho, como suele ocurrir con otros escritores. Cuando estaba en el bachillerato, mi verdadera pasión siempre fueron los cuentos y las novelas. Con el tiempo, esas ideas crecieron hasta convertirse en un ambicioso multiverso que llamo “Los mundos de ingenio”: cien mundos completamente distintos donde conviven magia, dioses, demonios, androides, metahumanos y todo lo imaginable entre fantasía y ciencia ficción.

¿Por qué nunca publiqué nada de esto?

Sencillamente, no tenía la formación técnica necesaria. Solo tenía un lore enorme, guías de personajes y más de veinte novelas empezadas, pero les faltaba textura, profundidad y pulido. Así que decidí formarme por mi cuenta. Leí más de cien novelas, estudiando estructuras, construcción de personajes, ritmo y estilo, buscando mi propia voz.

Poco a poco, siete de esos cien mundos empezaron a cobrar vida real. Con ellos escribí textos mucho más sólidos. Sin embargo, cuando estaba tomando impulso, la pantalla de mi laptop se averió, tras haberme acompañado durante diez años. Perdí muchos trabajos académicos y me sentí muy triste por perderla, pero logré salvar mis escritos creativos gracias a un pendrive.

Poco después llegó el 2018 y decidí poner a prueba mi nivel en concursos del club Fuentetaja. Envié “Los colores del mañana” (un microrrelato sobre una pandemia y un padre que se despide de su hijo) y quedé entre los 30 más votados de casi 400 participantes. Con “El muro”, del mismo mundo, repetí top 30. Y con el primer capítulo de la novela "El bosque de los espíritus" logré el puesto 35 entre 899 competidores.

No gané ninguno, pero descubrí algo valioso: había interés real en mis historias, incluso habiendo mostrado solo dos mundos, por lo que decidí seguir adelante, aunque tuviera que compartir la computadora de mi mamá con mi hermano.

Luego llegó la pandemia. Mientras hacía trabajos por encargo, surgió la oportunidad de convertirme en guionista del canal Historia Incomprendida. Durante siete años escribí más de 150 guiones, alcanzando audiencias de hasta cuatro millones de personas. Ese trabajo fue clave porque aprendí a detectar problemas de ritmo, clímax y coherencia con mucha más precisión. Por primera vez, mi formación académica, mi redacción estructurada y mi escritura creativa se unieron en un solo oficio.

Cuando el canal entró en declive y perdí el trabajo, tomé una decisión clara: era el momento de retomar mi ficción. Pero no tenía claro por cuál empezar, cuál le iba a gustar más al público, así que decidí hacer algo que ningún autor había hecho antes: consultar a la audiencia para saber qué proyecto es el más interesante. Elegí tres de mis mundos, tres novelas y una antología para que hagan una votación.

Universo Valhalla. Como su nombre lo indica, este universo está inspirado en la mitología nórdica. La novela se llama El treceavo amanecer y viene acompañada de una antología llamada La leyenda de Skadi.

Universo Fireling. Este es un universo donde la Tierra y la humanidad evolucionaron de forma completamente diferente. En un mundo azotado por volcanes y tormentas de azufre, los dazelinos envían jóvenes a un “Gran Viaje” suicida hacia la mítica Tierra de la Luz. Cuando los ancianos deciden sacrificar también a los bastardos y parientes molestos de los señores para frenar una herejía creciente, un fireling llamado Eidian inicia un ascenso que romperá todas sus creencias. La novela se llama Fireling.

Universo Nightmare. El 27 de abril de 1925, un destello verde en el cielo hizo que los sueños de la humanidad se volvieran realidad. Las enfermedades desaparecieron, las cosechas fallidas florecieron y la fealdad se convirtió en belleza. Surgió el culto al Dios Verde, un dios que solo daba… hasta que también empezó a hacer realidad las pesadillas que nadie se atrevía a confesar. La novela se llama El dios verde.

“From Venezuela to the Multiverse: How ‘Worlds of Ingenuity’ Was Born” (English versión)

When I wrote my introductory post in the Aliento community, I spoke about the economic and health challenges I faced while writing in a country like Venezuela. But, in truth, I didn’t speak about the most important thing: what do I love to write about?

As an author, I’ve had a peculiar trajectory. I have never limited myself to a single niche, as often happens with other writers. When I was in high school, my true passion was always short stories and novels. Over time, those ideas grew into an ambitious multiverse I call “Worlds of Ingenuity”: a hundred completely different worlds where magic, gods, demons, androids, metahumans, and everything imaginable between fantasy and science fiction coexist.

Why did I never publish any of this?

Quite simply, I lacked the necessary technical training. I only had an enormous lore, character guides, and more than twenty started novels, but they lacked texture, depth, and polish. So, I decided to train myself. I read over a hundred novels, studying structures, character building, pacing, and style, searching for my own voice.

Little by little, seven of those hundred worlds began to take on real life. With them, I wrote much more solid texts. However, just as I was gaining momentum, my laptop screen broke after being with me for ten years. I lost many academic works and felt very sad to lose it, but I managed to save my creative writings thanks to a pendrive.

Shortly after, 2018 arrived, and I decided to test my level in contests held by the Fuentetaja club. I sent “The Colors of Tomorrow” (a short story about a pandemic and a father saying goodbye to his son) and ranked among the top 30 most voted out of nearly 400 participants. With “The Wall,” from the same world, I repeated the top 30. And with the first chapter of the novel The Forest of Spirits, I achieved 35th place among 899 competitors.

I didn’t win any of them, but I discovered something valuable: there was real interest in my stories, even after showing only two worlds. So I decided to move forward, even if I had to share my mom’s computer with my brother.

Then the pandemic hit. While doing freelance work, the opportunity arose to become a scriptwriter for the channel Historia Incomprendida. Over seven years, I wrote more than 150 scripts, reaching audiences of up to four million people. That job was key because I learned to detect problems with pacing, climax, and coherence with much more precision. For the first time, my academic background, structured writing, and creative storytelling merged into a single craft.

When the channel went into decline and I lost the job, I made a clear decision: it was time to return to my fiction. But I wasn't sure which one to start with or which one the audience would like best, so I decided to do something no author had done before: consult the audience to find out which project is the most interesting. I chose three of my worlds, three novels, and one anthology for a vote.

Valhalla Universe. As the name suggests, this universe is inspired by Norse mythology. The novel is titled The Thirteenth Dawn and is accompanied by an anthology called The Legend of Skadi.

Fireling Universe. This is a universe where Earth and humanity evolved in a completely different way. In a world ravaged by volcanoes and sulfur storms, the Dazelians send young people on a suicidal “Great Journey” toward the mythical Land of Light. When the elders decide to also sacrifice the bastards and troublesome relatives of the lords to curb a growing heresy, a Fireling named Eidian begins an ascent that will shatter all his beliefs. The novel is titled Fireling.

Nightmare Universe. On April 27, 1925, a green flash in the sky made humanity's dreams come true. Diseases disappeared, failed harvests flourished, and ugliness turned into beauty. The cult of the Green God emerged—a god who only gave… until he also began to make reality the nightmares no one dared to confess. The novel is titled The Green God.
