I will try to be as clear, neutral, and personal as possible in this post, as I do not want to cause any misunderstanding. Nor do I want you to think that this is just complaining or ranting from someone who is negative about everything in life. No, while I admit that I prefer to be realistic about everything that is happening around me, I do not let myself be carried away by negativity at all and I always look for some way to be able to "do something", even if it is not much at the end of the day. However, as a user recently commented on a Snap I posted: "everything you do is enough." While I appreciate the kind words and encouragement from this user, I have to disagree with what they said. Personally, I think that nothing I do is or will be enough in one way or another. I've always had this critical way of thinking for as long as I can remember, I think. Even in simple things like talking and walking, I'm like that. I'm always very negative and critical of what I try to convey or do. I think I could have done better, that even with all the effort I put into doing something, it is not enough, and I always look for some detail or mistake in everything.

Esto puede deberse a pensar tanto en la situación mundial, económica, política, social; como también en la situación que se vive día a día en mi país (Venezuela), el cual no ha cambiado mucho luego los últimos acontecimientos ocurridos en estos últimos meses. Pero creo que el detonante final es todo lo que está sucediendo con el precio actual de Hive. Intentaré ser lo más claro, neutral y personal en esta publicación ya que no busco causar ningún malentendido. Tampoco quiero que piensen que todo esto es pura queja o palabrería de alguien que es negativo con todo en la vida. No, si bien admito que prefiero ser realista ante todo lo que está ocurriendo a mí alrededor, no me dejo llevar por la negatividad del todo y siempre busco alguna forma de poder “hacer algo”, aunque no sea mucho al final del día. Sin embargo, como un usuario recientemente me ha comentado en un Snap que publiqué: “todo lo que tú hagas es suficiente”. Si bien agradezco las palabras amables y el ánimo que me ha dado el usuario en cuestión, tengo que diferir en esto que ha afirmado. En lo personal, pienso que nada de lo que haga es o será suficiente de alguna u otra manera. Siempre he tenido esa forma crítica de pensar desde que tengo uso de razón, creo. Incluso en cosas simples como hablar y caminar soy así. Siempre soy muy negativo y crítico con lo que intento transmitir o hacer. Pienso que pude haberlo hecho mejor, que aún con todo lo que me esforcé haciendo tal cosa, no es suficiente y siempre busco algún detalle o error a todo.

The Perfectionist's Dilemma

From time to time, I have been changing, correcting, and improving every detail of my content because I am never satisfied with what I do in the end. When I look at my posts from last year, for example, I get horrible T.O.C. about wanting to correct almost everything. Now that I have acquired some useful tools, I have been a little more active than before on Hive. Not only am I posting almost daily, but I've also been active with Snaps every day and have even uploaded short videos via the Snapie mobile app. However, despite everything I've achieved in these two months, I still feel like it's not enough. And it's something that's been eating away at me, but I'll talk more about that later. The problem with trying new things like making videos for the internet is that, for a perfectionist like me, it's quite a challenge. Amongst all the hang-ups I have about my face, my voice, the way I speak and express myself on screen, there's also that feeling that, no matter how hard I try, I always feel like it won't turn out right. Perhaps this is due to the high standards I have for the content I seek to create. But it may also be because of that oppressive feeling of always having to give my best. Especially if what I really want is to "make a living doing what I love." That's the dilemma I have as a perfectionist: that nothing I do will ever be enough to achieve my high goals in life.

Actualmente he moderado un poco este hábito a solo cosas que de verdad veo que valen la pena ser crítico o detallista a tales extremos. Por ejemplo, en cuanto a mis publicaciones en Hive siempre he dado ese “máximo” de mí en cada texto, en cada maquetado, en cada portada y en cada separador que hago. Cada cierto tiempo he estado cambiando, corrigiendo y mejorando cada detalle de mi contenido ya que nunca estoy conforme con lo que hago al final. Cuando miro mis publicaciones del año pasado, por ejemplo, me da un TOC horrible de querer corregir casi todo. Ahora que he adquirido ciertas herramientas útiles, he sido un poco más activo que antes en Hive. No solo estoy publicando casi a diario, sino que también he estado activo con los Snaps cada día y hasta he subido vídeos cortos por la aplicación móvil de Snapie. Sin embargo, a pesar de todo lo que he logrado en estos dos meses, aún siento que no es suficiente. Y es algo que me ha carcomido en la cabeza, pero ya de eso les hablaré más adelante. El problema de probar cosas nuevas como hacer videos para internet es que, para un perfeccionista como yo, es todo un desafío. Entre tantos complejos que tengo con mi rostro, mi voz, mi forma de hablar y de expresarme en pantalla; también está esa sensación de que, no importa lo mucho que lo intente, siempre siento que no quedará bien. Tal vez esto se deba a los altos estándares que tengo con el contenido que busco lograr hacer. Pero también puede ser por esa sensación opresiva de dar lo mejor de mí siempre. Sobre todo si lo que de verdad quiero es “vivir de lo que me gusta”. Ese es el dilema que tengo como perfeccionista que soy: que nada de lo que haga será suficiente para lograr mis altos objetivos en la vida.

Never It's Enough

And this is something that, on the one hand, has helped me to surpass myself. Even making videos was something I thought was impossible for me to do, until I finally managed it recently thanks to Snapie. But I think many other things that have been happening at the same time also motivated me to take that step. It's not just me, but everything around me that frequently reminds me that it will never be enough. From the 15th to the 30th of each month, to my family and my own reflection; there is always something reminding me that I have to give more, that I have to do more, that I have to achieve more. Maybe part of this is due to my own decisions, which have led me into a dark pit that I may tell you about later. Maybe it's my mistake to rely solely on what I generated on Hive, or at least in part. All these thoughts are in my head, as if it were the voice of my conscience reminding me that I have to pay debts, that I have to contribute "something" at home, that I have to do more. It's not about competition, it's not about selfishness, it's not about greed or anything like that. It's simple necessity, it's that urge to do something more every day and never be satisfied with it. That feeling of emptiness that eats away at your mind, that makes you think that everything you've done so far is worthless, is torture. That's why I don't want to stop, because I know I won't achieve what I really want to do if I give up now. It's not that what I receive in rewards on Hive is enough, but that everything I've done so far is not enough. I have to do more, I must do more. Tal vez no sea lo correcto, pero si no me llego a sobreexigir a mí mismo en todo lo que hago y comparto en Hive, al final, no siento que haya dado todo de mí. Desde los 15 y los 30 de cada mes, hasta mi familia y mi propio reflejo; siempre hay algo que me recuerda que tengo que dar más, que tengo que hacer más, que tengo que conseguir más. Puede que parte de esto se deba a mis propias decisiones, las cuales me han llevado a un pozo oscuro del cual tal vez les hable después. Tal vez y sea mi error el depender únicamente de lo que generó en Hive, o al menos en parte. Todos estos pensamientos están en mi cabeza, como si fuera la voz de mi conciencia haciéndome recordar que tengo que pagar deudas, que tengo que aportar “algo” en mi casa, que tengo que hacer más. No es por competencia, no es por egoísmo, no es por avaricia ni nada por el estilo. Es simple necesidad, es esa urgencia de hacer algo más cada día y no quedarse conforme nunca con ello. Esa sensación de vacío que te carcome la cabeza, que te hace pensar que todo lo que has hecho hasta ahora no vale de nada es todo un suplicio. Es por eso que no quiero parar, porque sé que no lograré lo que de verdad deseo hacer si me rindo ahora. No es que sea suficiente lo que recibo en recompensas en Hive, sino que no es suficiente todo lo que he hecho hasta ahora. Tengo que hacer más, debo de hacer más.
