This is my Story

Esta es mi historia.

My name is Mariajosé Boscan, but I like people to call me “Majo”, I am 20 years old and I was born in the city of Maracaibo - Edo. Zulia in the country called Venezuela

Mi nombre es Mariajosé Boscan, pero me gusta que las personas me llamen “Majo”, tengo 20 años de edad y nací en la ciudad de Maracaibo – Edo. Zulia en el país llamado Venezuela

When I was 6 years old after my parents' separation, my mother decided to move to Barquisimeto, the city where my grandmother and her entire family lived.

Cuando tuve 6 años tras la separación de mis padres, mi madre decide mudarse a Barquisimeto, ciudad donde vivía mi abuela y toda su familia por parte de mamá.

Since I was little I liked the arts a lot, so when I was 8 years old I entered the conservatory where I studied music until the age of 15, there I learned to play transverse flute and also guitar and singing that he played in the church where he attended.

Desde pequeña me ha gustado mucho las artes, así que a los 8 años entre en el conservatorio donde estudie música hasta la edad de 15 años, allí aprendí a tocar flauta trasversa y también guitarra y canto que lo desempeñaba en la iglesia dónde asistía.

I started university in 2016, in the Social Communication degree because I really liked reading and writing, and I thought that this degree was the ideal one for me.

Comencé la universidad en el año 2016, en la carrera de Comunicación Social porque me gustaba mucho leer y escribir, y pensaba que esta carrera era la ideal para mí.

However, in that year and the following 2017, the situation in the country of Venezuela worsened more and more, the university where he attended was private and despite the fact that my mother made all the sacrifices to be able to pay for it, it reached the point where it became impossible for her .

Sin embargo en ese año y el siguiente 2017, la situación del país Venezuela empeoraba cada vez más, la universidad donde asistía era privada y a pesar de que mi madre hacía todos los sacrificios para poder pagarla, llego al punto en el que se le hizo imposible.

So I had to stop studying to start working, but at this point it is only the beginning of the story. In 2016 my grandmother died, and two years later in 2018 my mother became ill and we had to move to Maracaibo again, I had to leave work to go with her and take care of her.

Así que tuve que dejar de estudiar para comenzar a trabajar, pero en este punto solamente es el inicio de la historia. En el año 2016 mi abuela muere, y dos años después en el 2018 mi madre enferma y tuvimos que mudarnos a la Maracaibo nuevamente, tuve que dejar el trabajo para irme con ella y cuidarla.

The months passed but my mom only worsened her health, she had a tumor in her head that was growing and causing seizures and loss of some of her motor functions.

Los meses transcurrían pero mi mamá solo empeoraba su estado de salud, tenía un tumor en la cabeza que le estaba creciendo y provocando convulsiones y perdida de algunas de sus funciones motoras.

In one of the seizures, on September 24, 2018, my mother fell and broke her hip, preventing her from walking again, thus remaining in a wheelchair.

En una de las convulsiones, el 24 de septiembre del 2018 mi mamá se cae y se rompe la cadera impidiendo que ella volviese a caminar, quedando así en una silla de ruedas.

The following year the decision was made to operate on her tumor, my mother successfully left the operation, however two weeks later we had to return to the hospital because my mother had developed a very high fever and was not reacting.

Al año siguiente se toma la decisión de operarla de su tumor, mi madre salió con éxito de la operación, sin embargo dos semanas después tuvimos que volver al hospital porque a mi mamá le había dado una fiebre muy alta y no reaccionaba.

It turns out that the wound from the operation was infected and my mom had given her acute meningitis, so we spent the next 3 months in the hospital trying to save her life.

Resulta que la herida de la operación estaba infectada y mi mamá le había dado una meningitis aguda, por lo que estuvimos los siguientes 3 meses en el hospital tratando de salvar su vida.

On July 2 at 5:00 am my mother dies.

El 02 de Julio a las 5:00 am mi mamá muere.

It was very devastating for me and I felt lost, after that I have tried to overcome everything I have lived and try to be well for her.

Fue muy devastador para mi y me sentía perdida perdida, luego de eso he tratado de superar todo lo que he viví y tratar de estar bien por ella.

I'm not currently studying yet, but I work as a Community Manager and creator of content for small businesses, and also to further develop my passion for writing I have an account on Instagram called "@majoboscan" where I upload tips and motivational phrases to inspire everyone people who are going through a difficult time.

Actualmente no estoy estudiando aún, pero trabajo como Comunity Manager y creadora de contenidos para pequeños negocios, y también para desarrollar más mi pasión por escribir tengo una cuenta en Instagram que se llama "@majoboscan" donde subo consejos y frases motivadoras para inspirar a todas las personas que están pasando por un momento difícil.
