The other day my kids were watching cable at their grand mother house and they discover Fast and Furious the first one with Statham and I remember him from the Transporter, damn those were some movies and just in time this month he comes out with The Beekeeper, starring Jason Statham taking on the role of a former agent of a powerful and clandestine organization in search of revenge and fighting for justice. The movie is directed by David Ayer and written by Kurt Wimmer, as usual it comes with a lot of action that is the entire point of watching a Statham movie, plus the music is usually impresive too as it has to serve as complement for all the action going around. We are used to seeing Jason Statham in this type of performance, after all one of the movies I remember him is Collateral (2004) but I guess is just my memory and the most entertaining one probably The Expendables where a team of mercenaries is hired by a CIA agent to eliminate a Latin American dictator, it was kinda funny and the first time there were so many action movie starts in one single movie. https://i.imgur.com/uwwnjtd.png https://i.imgur.com/HQhgvxp.png Source This time we will see Jason Statham as Adam Clay, a former agent of a clandestine organization known as Beekeepers who, after the death of his friend and neighbor by suicide due to being the victim of a phishing scam, goes on a mission of revenge against the corrupt organization running this show who has affected many others but this is the first victim he knows of, the mor he goes deeper into this world of scams, crime and corruption, Clay finds himself confronting in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the ruthless leader of the Beekeepers Wallace Westwyld played by Jeremy Irons. https://i.imgur.com/XnKmMQB.png Source I’m not sure if this movie was on porpouse or when exactly it was written but it serves very well as an example of everything going on now days on the internet, with the booming of crypto currency the amount of scams going on every day are countless and the amount of people getting damage emotionally to the point of comiting suicide is very worring but crypto is not the reason all this is happening it is just that it came during a time that technology has facilitated communications so much and crypto currency are rising tech who have a speculative high value for the most part, but in certain ways this movie does reflect what is going on day by day. https://i.imgur.com/SsfA42J.png Source In addition to Jason Statham as the main protagonist, the cast of this movie includes Emmy Raver-Lampman playing Agent Verona Parker, a CIA agent who joins Clay in his search for justice same as Clay. Bobby Naderi is Agent Matt Wiley, another CIA agent who helps Parker and Clay on their mission. Josh Hutcherson stars as Derek Danforth, the son of the US president kidnapped by the Beekeepers since they seem to go rouge when things go south for them. Jeremy Irons plays Wallace Westwyld, the leader of the Beekeepers and the main antagonist of this movie. Minnie Driver rounds out the cast as Director Janet Harward, the head of the CIA and Parker’s boss, quite the cast from many previous hits like Batman, Hunger Games, Umbrella Academy, this should be a very entertaining movie and be ready for every single fantasy action scene that Statham can pull of, this wont be your straigh cop street fight. https://i.imgur.com/8hgbBW8.png Source Opinions from “pro critics” online The Beekeeper has been mixed, with some praising its action sequences and Statham’s performance, while others criticizing its plot and pacing, because lets face it this is a hero movie who saves the day this is not a movie for some kind of social impact although it does has one, scams are bad, but its obvious that “for now” it has been most applauded by critics is social opinion on the dangers of online scams and corporate corruption lets see peoples opinion once its release, remember 2023 what happen with all the movies “pushing messages”, from the other side of the fence ther have been some that have dismissed the film as a simple action film lacking depth and originality. https://i.imgur.com/uwwnjtd.png https://i.imgur.com/r0yj9oi.png My expectations for The Beekeeper is high, need that dopamine rush, I would like to see Statham return to his roots as an action hero, I am also intrigued by the plot figuring out exactly what “Alfred” is going to do as the bad guy of the movie, the trailer already have a few great action scenes, there is a lot of revenge against a corrupt organization, I hope the trailer didn’t gave everything what the movie has, with a strong cast and a well known writer this time as director David Ayer, he wrote one of my all time favorite movies “End of Watch” this will be an hour and forty five minutes roller coaster of some talking, then fighting and shooting then some more talking and it goes on and on, not that it will necesary do great a record breaking at the box office but many comments from the trailer and the aspects of the movie online expect it to have a good reception from the audience.
