Muy buenos días, mi gente, por acá arrancando la semana con toda la energía, escribiendo para ustedes desde Buenos Aires, #Argentina, en este lunes soleado que ya de entrada levanta el ánimo. Porque no hay mejor manera de empezar que con buena vibra, con ganas de avanzar y con esa mentalidad de que cada semana es una nueva oportunidad. Y es curioso, porque en medio de ese ritmo con el que comenzamos, también se cruzan muchas personas, muchas historias, muchas primeras impresiones. Y ahí es donde uno empieza a darse cuenta de que no todo es lo que parece a simple vista. Las ves una vez, cruzas dos palabras y ya crees saber cómo son. En el trabajo, en la calle, con vecinos, incluso aquí mismo en redes. Uno arma una película en segundos, sin darse cuenta, basándose en una mirada, en una forma de hablar o en una primera actitud. Y lo más curioso es que muchas veces damos por hecho que eso es suficiente para definir a alguien, cuando en realidad apenas estamos viendo una pequeña parte de todo lo que esa persona es. Vivimos tan rápido que a veces ni nos damos la oportunidad de conocer más allá de esa primera impresión. A mí me ha pasado muchas veces. Personas que al principio se ven serias, como distantes, y uno piensa “este no es muy sociable”, y después resulta que son tremenda gente, de esas que te ayudan sin pensarlo, que están ahí cuando hace falta. Y también al revés, gente que se muestra amable de entrada, muy conversadora, con buena vibra, y con el tiempo te das cuenta de que no era como parecía. Ahí es donde uno entiende que la primera impresión muchas veces se queda corta, que no alcanza para conocer realmente a alguien. Porque todos tenemos capas, momentos, historias detrás que no se ven en un primer contacto. También me pasó mucho al llegar a Argentina. Uno viene con su forma de ser, con esa cercanía del venezolano, de hablar con todo el mundo, de ser más abierto, más expresivo. Y claro, al principio uno percibe a la gente más reservada, más en lo suyo, y puede pensar cualquier cosa, puede incluso llegar a interpretar mal ciertas actitudes. Pero con el tiempo te das cuenta de que no es frialdad, es otra forma de ser, otra cultura, otra manera de relacionarse. Y ahí es donde uno empieza a entender, a adaptarse y a respetar esas diferencias. Te das cuenta de que no es que estén mal, simplemente son distintos, y eso también suma. Y si lo llevo un poco más a lo personal, a mi propia historia, también pasa algo parecido. Desde afuera, muchos pueden ver solo una parte de mí, el que escribe, el que comparte, el que sigue adelante, el que siempre tiene algo que decir. Pero hay otra historia detrás, una que no siempre se ve a primera vista, una que no se nota en una primera impresión. La de un padre que ha tenido que aprender a vivir con una ausencia que no se llena, la de alguien que dejó su país buscando un mejor futuro, la de una persona que ha tenido que reconstruirse poco a poco, desde cero, con esfuerzo, con caídas y con aprendizajes. Y así como pasa con los demás, conmigo también aplica lo mismo, no todo lo que se ve al principio cuenta la historia completa. Detrás de cada persona hay una historia, hay luchas, hay aprendizajes que no se notan a simple vista. Por eso vale la pena darse el tiempo, no juzgar tan rápido y permitir que las personas muestren realmente quiénes son. Porque así como uno también lleva su propia historia por dentro, todos los demás están cargando la suya. Y quizás, si aprendemos a mirar un poco más allá, podamos conectar de verdad, desde lo humano, desde lo real. And that’s when you start to realize that not everything is what it seems at first glance. You see them once, exchange a couple of words, and you already think you know what they’re like. At work, on the street, with neighbors, even here on social media. We create a whole story in seconds without realizing it, based on a look, a way of speaking, or a first attitude. And the most curious thing is that many times we assume that’s enough to define someone, when in reality we’re only seeing a small part of who that person really is. We live so fast that sometimes we don’t even give ourselves the chance to look beyond that first impression. It has happened to me many times. People who at first seem serious, distant, and you think “this person isn’t very sociable,” and later you realize they are actually amazing people, the kind who help you without thinking twice, who are there when you need them. And the opposite happens too, people who seem kind at first, very talkative, with good energy, and over time you realize they weren’t what they seemed. That’s when you understand that first impressions often fall short, that they’re not enough to truly know someone. Because we all have layers, moments, and stories behind us that don’t show in a first encounter. It also happened to me a lot when I arrived in Argentina. You come with your way of being, with that Venezuelan warmth, talking to everyone, being more open and expressive. And of course, at first you perceive people as more reserved, more in their own world, and you might think anything, even misinterpret certain attitudes. But with time you realize it’s not coldness, it’s just another way of being, another culture, another way of relating. And that’s when you begin to understand, to adapt, and to respect those differences. You realize it’s not that they’re wrong, they’re just different, and that also adds value. And if I take it to a more personal level, to my own story, something similar happens. From the outside, many people can only see one side of me, the one who writes, the one who shares, the one who keeps going, the one who always has something to say. But there’s another story behind it, one that isn’t always visible at first glance, one that doesn’t show in a first impression. The story of a father who has had to learn to live with an absence that cannot be filled, of someone who left his country in search of a better future, of a person who has had to rebuild himself little by little, from scratch, with effort, with setbacks, and with lessons learned. And just like it happens with others, the same applies to me, not everything you see at the beginning tells the whole story.
