Saludos, nuevamente mis queridos lectores, tomando en cuenta que el 25 de junio se celebró el día mundial del vitíligo, quiero aprovechar la ocasión para compartir con todos ustedes la importancia de aceptarse tal y como son y no darle entrada a los comentarios o gestos mal intencionados de la sociedad.

Antes de profundizar en este tema es importante describir el Vitíligo, como una enfermedad que provoca despigmentación de la piel, como consecuencia de la falta de melanocitos (se encargan de generar la coloración de la piel, mediante la melanina), esta decoloración se origina en distintas partes del cuerpo, como la piel, el cabello y membranas mucosas.

Esta enfermedad llega a transformar la vida de quien la desarrolle, ya que estas manchas pueden hacerte ver diferente al resto de las demás personas, causando una ruptura en el los modelos de estereotipos que se conoce en la sociedad.

Greetings, once again my dear readers, taking into account that June 25th was celebrated as the World Vitiligo Day, I want to take this opportunity to share with all of you the importance of accepting yourself as you are and not to give in to society's ill-intentioned comments or gestures.

Before going deeper into this topic, it is important to describe Vitíligo, as a disease that causes skin depigmentation as a consequence of the lack of melanocytes (responsible for generating skin coloration through melanin), this discoloration originates in different parts of the body, such as the skin, hair and mucous membranes.

This disease transforms the life of whoever develops it, since these spots can make you look different from the rest of the people, causing a break in the stereotype models known in society.

Actualmente en pleno siglo XXI, aún seguimos enmarcados en estas características y actitudes físicas, religiosas, culturales, entre otras que deben presentar una persona en la sociedad, si hablamos de una mujer para que esta pueda ser considerada hermosa debe cumplir con ciertas cualidades físicas como un cuerpo esbelto, las medidas perfectas, una piel hermosa y sobre todo que este excepta de manchas o cicatrices y nos olvidamos totalmente de cualidades tan importantes e indispensable en cualquier ser humano como lo son sus sentimientos, actitudes e inteligencia.

Todo esto ha sido como consecuencia de nuestras propias acciones donde hemos trabajado de forma directa e indirecta en la exclusión de las personas que no cumplen con estas características, debido a que vienen a romper esos paradigmas a los que ya estamos acostumbrados y nos alejan de nuestra zona de confort.

Ninguna de las personas que tienen cualidades física y mentales diferentes son culpables de ello, nadie tiene la potestad de elegir como ser en la vida, de lo contrario cada quien se diseñara a su manera y perfección según sus propios criterios.

Currently in the XXI century, we are still framed in these characteristics and physical attitudes, religious, cultural, among others that must present a person in society, if we talk about a woman for this to be considered beautiful must meet certain physical qualities such as a slender body, perfect measurements, beautiful skin and above all that this except for spots or scars and we totally forget about qualities as important and indispensable in any human being such as their feelings, attitudes and intelligence.

All this has been as a consequence of our own actions where we have worked directly and indirectly in the exclusion of people who do not meet these characteristics, because they come to break those paradigms to which we are already accustomed and take us away from our comfort zone.

None of the people who have different physical and mental qualities are guilty of it, no one has the power to choose how to be in life, otherwise everyone will be designed in their own way and perfection according to their own criteria.

Y es justamente esa exclusión de la sociedad lo que sigue enmarcando los estereotipos, que no permiten que estas personas con vitíligo puedan ser vistas sin la necesidad de un comentario o una mirada despectiva, que de una u otra forma le hacen decaer su autoestima y lo hacen sentir como que no perteneces a este planeta.

Las personas con vitíligo pasan por una mezcla de emociones y sentimientos que le provocan un desequilibrio en sus vidas, cuando tienen que afrontar con esta enfermedad, los invade el temor de afrontar su cambio físico, la angustia y vergüenza de tener que salir a la calle y enfrentarse al qué dirán de las otras personas y la desesperación de tener que vivir el resto de sus días con ella.

Me atrevería a decir que el gran porcentaje y por no ser atrevida y asegurar que todas las personas que padecen estas manchas en su piel, han pasado por un estado de depresión absoluta como consecuencia de todo lo anterior descrito, debido a que el temor a este nuevo estilo de vida los invade, lamentablemente no todos logran salir victorioso de esta situación y ello va a depender directamente del apoyo que le puedan brindar los familiares y amigos a la persona que lo padezca y a su proceso de aceptación propia.

And it is precisely this exclusion from society that continues to frame stereotypes, which do not allow these people with vitiligo to be seen without the need for a derogatory comment or look, which in one way or another make you lose your self-esteem and make you feel like you do not belong on this planet.

People with vitiligo go through a mixture of emotions and feelings that cause an imbalance in their lives, when they have to deal with this disease, they are invaded by the fear of facing their physical change, the anguish and embarrassment of having to go out in the street and face what other people will say and the despair of having to live the rest of their days with it.

I would dare to say that the great percentage and not to be bold and to assure that all the people who suffer from these spots on their skin, have gone through a state of absolute depression as a result of all the above described, because the fear of this new lifestyle invades them, unfortunately not all manage to emerge victorious from this situation and it will depend directly on the support that family and friends can provide to the person who suffers from it and its process of self-acceptance.

Esto desde mi perspectiva juega un papel preponderante en la motivación que puede necesitar el afectado para la aceptación y aprender a vivir con ella. Si cuenta con la suerte de tener una familia comprensiva y amorosa que le brinde la ayuda necesaria para asumir esta enfermedad lo va hacer sin el mayor de los problemas.

Ahora bien en el caso contrario de aquellas personas que no cuentan con la fortaleza necesaria de asumir la enfermedad y que aunado a ello sus familiares traten de tenerla oculta, esto sin duda alguna será el causante de muchos problemas emocionales que tengan que afrontar la persona.

Tomo como referencia todo lo anterior expresado para comentarles la vida de una pequeña amiga, a quien llamaremos Moreilis, ella tuvo una vida feliz y alegre hasta la edad de 12 años, cuando de un día para otro comenzaron a aparecer estas manchas en su piel, su madre como es enfermera de una vez identifico la enfermedad y trato por todos los medios posibles el evitar que esta avanzara sin tener ninguna respuesta positiva.

This from my perspective plays a preponderant role in the motivation that the affected person may need to accept and learn to live with it. If you are fortunate enough to have an understanding and loving family who will provide you with the help you need to cope with this disease, you will do so without the greatest of problems.

However, in the opposite case of those people who do not have the necessary strength to assume the disease and whose family members try to keep it hidden, this will undoubtedly be the cause of many emotional problems that the person will have to face.

I take as a reference all the above mentioned to tell you about the life of a little friend, who we will call Moreilis, she had a happy and joyful life until the age of 12, when from one day to another these spots began to appear on her skin, her mother as a nurse at once identified the disease and tried by all possible means to prevent it from progressing without having any positive response.

Esta niña dejo de sonreír, se la pasaba muy triste y solitaria, ya no quería continuar con su vida normal por su cambio de apariencia, salía a la calle y era observada de una manera desagradable por todos los que la rodeaban y nunca falto un comentario fuera de lugar que la hiciera sentir como alguien que no pertenecía a este mundo.

Así transcurrió un largo tiempo y luego de tantas caídas y tropiezos en su caminos ella misma se aceptó tal y como es y entendió que estas manchas en su piel no la hacían mejor o peor persona de la que era antes, que para ser hermosa no necesitaba de un cuerpo, medidas y piel perfecta, que su belleza no dependía de su físico sino de lo que ella tenía por dentro y podía dar a los demás.

Simplemente comprendió que no debía sentir vergüenza alguna de su piel y que si sufría esta enfermedad era como parte de su propósito en esta vida y de allí en adelante se mentalizo en su proceso de aceptación y adaptación a la sociedad, al principio no fue nada fácil, ya que nunca falto quien la quisiera hacer sentir mal por su apariencia física, pero ella ya había pasado por su proceso de sanación y valoración propia y fue muy determinante en no dejar que nadie le apagara su brillo en la vida.

This girl stopped smiling, she was very sad and lonely, she no longer wanted to continue with her normal life because of her change of appearance, she went out in the street and was observed in an unpleasant way by everyone around her and there was always a comment out of place that made her feel like someone who did not belong to this world.

A long time went by and after so many falls and stumbles in her path she accepted herself as she is and understood that these spots on her skin did not make her a better or worse person than she was before, that to be beautiful she did not need a perfect body, measurements and skin, that her beauty did not depend on her physique but on what she had inside and what she could give to others.

She simply understood that she should not feel ashamed of her skin and that if she suffered from this disease it was as part of her purpose in life and from then on she was mentally prepared in her process of acceptance and adaptation to society, at the beginning it was not easy, since there was always someone who wanted to make her feel bad because of her physical appearance, but she had already gone through her process of healing and self-esteem and was very determined not to let anyone dull her shine in life.

Actualmente ella tiene 23 años, vive una vida normal junto a su familia, quien en todo momento la apoyaron y le brindaron los recursos necesarios para su tranquilidad y es ejemplo a seguir de todos los que padecen de esta enfermedad, de hecho como motivo de celebración del día mundial del vitíligo se hizo una sección de fotos que me facilito para el desarrollo de mi publicación, ya que su intención en todo momento es que su historia trascienda fronteras y sea un ejemplo de vida para todos aquellos que la necesiten.

Amigas y amigos no se sientan excluidos de la sociedad por ser diferente al ciudadano común (estereotipo), siéntanse afortunados de ser diferentes al montón, Dios tiene un gran propósito de vida para cada uno de ustedes y aceptémonos con todas nuestras virtudes y diferencia, esto es indispensable para toda persona.
