Hello everyone, it's me again! :)
On 17.08.2025 we went, as you might already guess from the title, to Karlsruhe. That’s where AC/DC made a stop on their Power Up Tour and it was a perfect opportunity to see them live, especially since I even got the ticket for free. :D

Hallo allerseits, ich mal wieder! :)
Am 17.08.2025 ging es, wie dem Titel eventuell schon zu entnehmen, nach Karlsruhe. Dort haben AC/DC auf ihrer Power Up Tour haltgemacht und das hat sich mal richtig angeboten die zu sehen, insbesondere, da ich das Ticket auch noch kostenlos bekommen hab. :D

The journey was very relaxed except for the ride with the city train from the main station in Karlsruhe to the exhibition grounds. In the city train I stood pressed in like i would be in a can for full 40 minutes - and that at roughly 30, more likely felt 35 degrees. The air conditioning could not handle the mass of people, and of course nowadays there are no windows anymore that you can open on the trains - otherwise the air conditioning would be pointless... ^^ Unfortunately my companion was so far away, that I couldn’t reach the drinks we had brought with us during the whole ride. Luckily a lady next to me was constantly waving the air with her ticket (which I also didn not have with me...^^) and she even had a Fisherman’s Friend for the melting Schlesinger.

Die Anreise war bis auf die Fahrt mit der Stadtbahn vom Hauptbahnhof zum Messegelände sehr entspannt. In dieser stand ich wie in eine Büchse gepresst für satte 40 Minuten - und das bei grob 30, gefühlt eher 35 Grad. Die Klimaanlage kam mit der Masse an Menschen nicht klar, und natürlich gibt es in den Bahnen heutzutage auch keine Fenster mehr, die sich öffnen lassen - sonst wäre die Klimaanlage ja sinnlos... ^^ Unpraktischerweise war meine Begleitung so weit entfernt, dass ich leider die ganze Fahrt über nicht an das mitgebrachte Trinken rankam. Glücklicherweise fächerte eine Dame neben mir konstant mit ihrem Ticket Luft (das hatte ich leider auch nicht bei mir...^^) und hatte sogar ein Fisherman’s Friend für den schmelzenden Schlesinger übrig.

Finally arriving at the city train stop at the exhibition grounds in Karlsruhe there was only one thought - COLD BEER, quickly! ^^ After we had walked a few meters and I had done a little meerkat lookout, I immediately noticed an umbrella next to a Rewe market. You could only hear a loud "Biiiier" from my side and we made our way. I may sound a little like an alcoholic this moment, but a cool beer or a few just belong to a sunny day when you’re celebrating, especially at events like this.

Endlich an der Stadtbahnhaltestelle beim Messegelände in Karlsruhe angekommen, gab es nur einen Gedanken - KÜHLES BIER... und das schnell! ^^ Nachdem wir ein paar Meter gelaufen waren und ich ein wenig auf Erdmännchen gemacht hatte, fiel mir direkt ein Schirm neben einem Rewe-Markt auf. Daraufhin kam nur noch ein lautes "Biiiier" von mir, und wir machten uns auf den Weg. Ich kling ein wenig wie ein Alkoholiker, aber das ein oder andere kühle Bierchen gehört einfach zu einem sonnigen Tag, an dem gefeiert wird dazu, insbesondere bei derartigen Events.

One employee of the Karlsruhe transport company didn’t like it at all that I and others wanted to take the direct, public and not closed-off path up to the Rewe by the stand. She told me "veeeery friendly" that I shouldn’t go that way (also to other people crossing), which of course I only acknowledged with a raised eyebrow. She didn’t like that at all, and the young lady with her 20 years or whatever started shouting after me that she had forbidden me to walk that way. Some of you might imagine what words besides "Are you my mother *or what*" I and other people had left for the "friendly" young lady - and what can I say: the crowd did the same as we did, because it was simply the better and not crowded as well as public way to the beers. This path even led us faster to our goal, because in a small alley on the way was an older gentleman with 7 giant cooling boxes - filled to the top with cold drinks of all kinds, where I decided to take a fine Augustiner.

Einer Mitarbeiterin des Karlsruher Verkehrsverbundes gefiel das aber gar nicht, dass ich wie weitere Leute den direkten, öffentlichen und nicht abgesperrten Weg zum Rewe an den Stand hochnehmen wollte. Sie sagte mir wie anderen passierenden Leuten "seeeeehr freundlich", ich solle da nicht lang gehen, was ich natürlich nur mit einer hochgezogenen Augenbraue gewürdigt habe. Das gefiel ihr gar nicht, und die junge Dame mit ihren 20 Jahren oder was auch immer begann mir hinterherzuschreien, sie habe mir doch verboten, da langzulaufen. Einige unter euch können sich eventuell denken, welche Worte ich wie weitere Personen neben "Bist du meine Mutter oder was" für die "freundliche" junge Dame übrig hatten - und was soll ich sagen: Die Masse hat’s uns gleich getan, denn es war einfach der bessere und nicht überlaufene wie öffentliche Weg zum Bier. Dieser Weg hat uns dann sogar noch schneller ans Ziel geführt, denn in einer kleinen Gasse auf dem Weg stand ein älterer Herr mit 7 riesen Kühlboxen - bis oben gefüllt mit kühlem Nass aller Art, wobei ich mich hier für ein feines Augustiner entschieden habe.

After another cold drink and a short toilet break (I really should have taken a picture of the toilet i used, because I honestly don’t know how the 3 ladies standing in front of me in the queue managed to climb that thing -.-"^^) ging's on towards the concert grounds, which was almost like a small hike, because you had to go once completely around to the entrance... On the way to the grounds you met all sorts of people who wanted to sell you everything from CDs to tickets. A guy with a bagpipe had also placed himself in front of the grounds; on his sign it just said "need free ticket" - as it turned out after the concert, unfortunately that was just his trick, and he made some real good money that evening...

Nach einem weiteren kühlen Getränk und einer kurzen Toilettenpause (ich hätte euch ein Bild von der Toilette machen sollen, denn ich weiß echt nicht, wie die 3 Damen, die vor mir in der Schlange standen, das Ding bestiegen haben -.-"^^) ging's dann weiter Richtung Konzertgelände, was fast schon einer kleinen Wanderung gleichkam, denn es ging einmal komplett außen rum zum Einlass... Auf dem Weg zum Gelände traf man auf allerlei Leute, die einem von CDs bis Tickets alles Mögliche andrehen wollten. Ein Typ mit einem Dudelsack hatte sich ebenfalls vor dem Gelände eingefunden; auf dessen Schild stand nur "need free ticket" - wie sich nach dem Konzert herausgestellt hatte, war das leider einfach nur seine Masche, und er hat an dem Abend richtig ordentlich Kohle gemacht...

Until we finally arrived at the concert grounds, almost 45 minutes had passed - but not because of a queue or anything like that, as said, simply because of the hike you had to make it to the entrance. Once completely around the exhibition grounds and from the opposite side of the actual entrance it finally went onto the concert site. The band playing before (The Pretty Reckless) was already playing while we were on the way. However, we agreed that we were not particularly interested in listening to them, even though we did get half the performance. It was still uninteresting - the cold 0.5L beers for 7 € were more interesting at this moment. ^^ Also interesting were the lines to the toilets when entering the grounds - I had never seen anything like that before... 8 rows with at least 100 to more likely 150 people in each queue - absolutely insane. And there were plenty of other toilets further back without long queues and also some "quiet corners" where at best no one really has had a more or less good evening (I’m referring to people who like to drink one too many and then look for a quiet corner to rest). :D

Bis wir dann letztlich auf dem Konzertgelände ankamen, vergingen knappe 45 Minuten - allerdings nicht aufgrund einer Schlange oder Ähnlichem, sondern wie gesagt schlicht aufgrund der Wanderung, die es hier zurückzulegen galt. Einmal komplett um das Messegelände herum und von der gegenüberliegenden Seite des eigentlichen Eingangs ging es dann auf das Gelände. Die Vorgruppe (The Pretty Reckless) spielte bereits, als wir uns auf dem Weg befanden. Wir waren uns allerdings einig, dass die uns nicht sonderlich interessieren, auch wenn wir den halben Auftritt dann doch mitbekommen haben. Es war dennoch uninteressant - die kühlen 0,5L Bier für 7 € waren da interessanter. ^^ Ebenso interessant war die Schlange zu den Toiletten beim Eintreten auf das Gelände - so etwas hatte ich bisher noch nicht gesehen... 8 Reihen mit mindestens 100 bis eher 150 Personen in jeder - absolut abartig. Dabei gab’s weiter hinten noch etliche weitere Toiletten ohne lange Warteschlange und auch einige "ruhige Ecken", in denen bestenfalls niemand mehr einen mehr oder weniger guten Abend verbracht hat (wobei ich damit auf Leute anspiele, die gern mal einen zu viel trinken und sich eine ruhige Ecke suchen). :D

When AC/DC were finally announced and the show began, I still had a wonderful view towards the stage and the screens - but unfortunately that changed within seconds, and all I could see were displays. Those things - blessing and curse at the same time. But hey, at least I could look at the displays, and some even zoomed in further... ^^

Als dann endlich AC/DC angekündigt wurden und die Show begann, hatte ich noch einen wunderbaren Blick in Richtung Bühne wie auf die Leinwände - das änderte sich aber leider binnen Sekunden, und alles, was ich noch sah, waren Displays. Die Dinger - Segen und Fluch zugleich. Aber hey, ich konnte ja immerhin auf die Displays schauen, und einige zoomten sogar noch weiter ran... ^^

The performance itself was asolutely great! The gentlemen are already a bit older - Brian Johnson (singer) is 77 years old, followed by Angus Young (guitar) with 70 years (the other members are not much younger) - but I tell you: they stayed young and still know how to run a show. :D Also the sound at the place where I stood was very pleasant, even though it was roughly 150 meters away from the stage. You could sing along wonderfully, everything was great – although I probably was the only one "on the Highway to Heaven" (words have weight, remember that!). :DD Especially Angus brought me to a complete standstill for some time (if I could see what was happening on stage), because I just had to watch for a short moment how he, still as usual sometimes even on one leg, kept giving it to the guitar at his age.

Der Auftritt an sich war einfach klasse! Die Herren sind ja schon ein wenig älter - Brian Johnson (Sänger) ist 77 Jahre alt, gefolgt von Angus Young (Gitarre) mit 70 Jahren (die anderen Mitglieder sind nicht bedeutend jünger) - aber ich sag’s euch: Die sind jung geblieben. :D Auch der Klang an dem Platz, an dem ich stand, war sehr angenehm, obwohl es grob 150 Meter zur Bühne waren. Man konnte wunderbar mitgröhlen, alles super – wobei ich wohl der Einzige war, der "on the Highway to Heaven" unterwegs ist (Worte haben Gewicht, merkt euch das!). :DD Gerade Angus hat mich gelegentlich zum völligen Stillstand gebracht (sofern ich mitbekommen haben, was auf der Bühne vor sich geht), da ich mir einfach für einen kurzen Moment anschauen musste, wie der in seinem Alter nach wie vor, teils auch wie gehabt auf einem Bein, der Gitarre gibt.

It really was an awesome concert, people were in a good mood and everything just fit - this is at least my view on this evening. Sure, they are not as wild as they used to be (I already mentioned their age before), but it is still really going strong, I definitely don’t regret having made the effort to be there.

Es war wirklich ein geiles Konzert, die Leute waren gut drauf und alles hat gepasst - so zumindest meine Wahrnehmung. Klar sind die nicht mehr so wild wie früher (ich hab das Alter ja bereits erwähnt), aber da geht’s nach wie vor gut zur Sache, ich bereue es jedenfalls nicht, den Weg auf mich genommen zu haben.

This is a video made by a YouTuber who, as the channel name might already suggest, was lucky enough to follow the concert from a much better spot than i did. It should be said beforehand, that this was the last song the gentlemen played that evening. ;)

Hier noch ein Video von einem YouTuber, welcher wie der Name des Kanals eventuell schon verrät, das Konzert von einem deutlich besseren Platz aus verfolgen durfte. Dazu muss vorab gesagt sein, dass es sich hierbei um den letzten Song handelt, den die Herren an dem Abend gespielt haben. ;)

The way home on the other side was a bit stressful. By the time we made it near the train stop, we found ourselves in front of a wall of people, from which we were told that this was where you had to line up if you are waiting for the train. Because of the crowd we would have stood there for hours until we finally got on a train. Luckily Schlesinger is a little weasel and realized that it was definitely worth it to walk the 8 minutes to the previous stop. Everyone standing around and listening was convinced with the following words: "We will be able to sit." And about 20 minutes later that’s exactly what happened. ^^ Due to numerous construction sites and a very strange "traffic guidance" in Karlsruhe (from the city train to the subway, into the bus, into a train, to finally get into the desired city train... Phew...) I unfortunately didn’t really find my way anymore – maybe because of all the construction sites and maybe also the few beers i had. But after all I was there to have fun, not to study the public transport network in Karlsruhe. :D But yes, as quickly as we got away, we still only made it to our destination with the last train of the day and were home around 2:30 at night. Which, as I heard, wasn’t such a bad time at all, because the last car has left the parking lot around 3 in the morning as far as i could hear about. ^^

Der Heimweg war allerdings ein wenig stressig. Bis wir es in die Nähe der Bahnhaltestelle geschafft hatten, standen wir einmal vor einer Wand aus Menschen, aus der uns mitgeteilt wurde, dass man sich hier für die Bahn anstellen könne. Aufgrund der Masse wären wir dort stundenlang gestanden, bis wir es in eine Bahn geschafft hätten. Glücklicherweise ist der Schlesinger ein kleines Wiesel und hat erkannt, dass es sich durchaus lohnt, den Weg von knapp 8 Minuten zur vorherigen Haltestelle zu nehmen. Überzeugt waren alle umherstehenden und lauschenden mit den folgenden Worten: "Wir werden sitzen können." Und knapp 20 Minuten später trat das auch genau so ein.^^ Aufgrund etlicher Baustellen und einer sehr seltsamen "Verkehrsführung" in Karlsruhe (von der Stadtbahn zur U-Bahn, in den Bus, in einen Zug, um in die gewünschte Stadtbahn zu gelangen... Phew...) habe ich mich – wegen der ganzen Baustellen und vielleicht auch den paar Bierchen – leider nicht mehr so ganz zurechtgefunden. Aber ich war ja schließlich zum Spaß haben vor Ort, nicht um das öffentliche Verkehrsnetz in Karlsruhe zu studieren. :D Aber ja, so schnell wir auch weggekommen sind, haben wir es dann doch erst mit der für diesen Tag letzten Bahn ans Ziel geschafft und waren gegen 2:30 in der Nacht daheim. Was wie ich mitbekommen habe, gar nicht so eine schlechte Zeit gewesen ist, denn das letzte Auto hat den Parkplatz wohl erst gegen 3 Uhr nachts verlassen. ^^

If you got the desire to see them as well, I’d stick to it, because I don’t think the guys will be found on stage for that much longer. ;)

Solltet Ihr Lust bekommen haben, würde ich mich dran halten, denn ich glaub so lange sind die Jungs nicht mehr auf der Bühne vorzufinden. ;)
