그다지 '문학소년'은 아니었기에 이제서야 괴테의 청년기 명작 소설 젊은 베르테르의 슬픔을 읽었다. 알렉산더 폰 훔볼트의 전기 성격의 책 자연의 발명(안드레아 울프)에서 스무살 많은 괴테와의 교류가 비중있게 나와, 이 시대를 참고할 겸 읽게 되었다. 워낙 유명한 소설이지만, 아직 읽지 않거나 읽은지 오래된 사람들을 위해 내가 읽고 기억에 남는 부분을 남기며 공유한다.
