Streamline Your Goals!

I have two TAFE assignments due on Sunday 31st May 2026 and I have just barely started on both. TAFE is an acronym for Tertiary And Further Education. It’s a form of college. I can do them, but I will be cutting it really fine because I am working on Sunday. I am going to split both assignments into a few days of the week in order to get them finished. It also means that I need to finish the second one on Saturday night, or at least be mostly finished before then in case I have to work late and it means submitting the assignment late.

Multiple Distractions

In order to narrow my focus, and “streamline my goals” I have had to say “No, thank you” and “Sorry, I can’t!” to friends that are moving house on the day the assignments are due. I have also had to challenge my tendency to lean into procrastination and avoidance of doing hard things. This means limiting quick dopamine sources until after I have made progress. I am currently watching a show called “Widow’s Bay”. It’s a suspense filled horror / comedy that plays on all of the horror tropes. It’s very good. Too good. And the assignments are dopamine dry… Also, typing this is a form of procrastination too. I’m very self aware. But there are groups here that require posting something every few weeks otherwise It has also meant having small deadlines that I check off as I go to calm the impending, increasing sense of doom, gloom and self defeatism as the tock clicks down to that goal point. I will succeed because I’ll make the effort, but I really could do without the distractions and my own mental opposition to doing this stuff.

Achieving Goals

The world is unfair. Accept this. Get organised and do the work. Do what you agree to do. Show up consistently over time. Negative personality traits can lead to success: Spite is a great motivator, for example. Don’t compare yourself to others. There will be more from me in the future, but for now I really need to get these assignments done. Best of luck with your own challenges.
